one morning when i was riding on a public utility vehicle (on my way to school ) i find it odd, that a woman sitting next to me at my right side was always coughing on my face. the bad thing is when she's coughing, she doesn't even cover her mouth. lol didn't her mother teach her that kind of manner? then while we're in the middle of the road, i suddenly felt that my cell phone was moving from my pocket, i didn't switch it to silent mode though. then when i look at my pocket, i saw her hand in my jeans moving my cell phone to reach to top of my my pocket (she was still coughing while she was doing it lol. part of her strategy i think). so i just grab my cell phone and hold it look at her. that was when i realize that this woman was really odd because she was a pick pocket/snatcher after all lol. i wanted to shout at that moment but i think what will happen if i do that? who knows if she has a knife in her bag, right?

I wouldn't shout at all, I'd be sarcastic when I'll say, "Ay, bwiset.. nina-nakaw na pala telepono ko, umu-ubo-ubo pa!" or "How annoying, stealing my phone while pretending to cough a lot..." saying that while other passengers, if any are aboard, would hear and react as well.
That woman can get away safely if she wanted to by ignoring my accusations or panic and do pull out a knife..
At times like that, I'd show her my phone, disassemble it infront of her, take my SIM card and the memory card and throw it out the window. 
I might even tell her "fetch" while doing so..

As long as I got my phone back I don't think I would have done anything either. As you mention you never know how someone like that will react.
