Is tuberculosis common where you live?

Tuberculosis is becoming more and more common in my area. We have a lot of immigrants from areas where the disease is common and a lot of people are being exposed to it. Luckily, it's fairly easy and cheap to treat where I live.

It's not common in the place I live. All of children received vaccine when they are 7 years old. It's a good precaution to prevent such disease. I am not sure about the treatment cost, but I don't think it's expensive as well.

I was unaware that a vaccine even exists. I know a lot of people in many countries in the world who would love to have a vaccine, but for some reason they don't get one. We have a TB test that is given about the time children start school, no vaccine. It's treated with medication if the disease actually presents itself. TB is not very common in our country, but has been steadily rising in certain areas with high immigration from areas around the world where it is.

May be you are right. I was told that the injection was to prevent the spread of it. And, as you know, as a kid, I didn't aware what exactly it was. It could be TB test, which is useful for early detection and in some way, help to 'prevent' the infection.
