Family tree - how far back have you got??

My and mum and I have been doing our family tree. She has been buying certificates to help her with names and dates. I was wondering for those who have done their family tree, whats the furthest you have got to??
In my tree I have managed to go back to 1585 with a total of 2369 people in my tree. Its great being able to find out about my family's history and finding people that are related through the family tree!
What are your stories about your family tree?

On my father's side the furthest I can go back 1591. On my mother's side I can only go as far back as my grandparents. One of my cousins did have this information at one time or another, but unfortunately it got destroyed. 
I currently have 406 names in my tree. I'd like to get more added to it, but I've been slacking when it comes to my family tree. As it is I haven't worked on it in the past 5 months.
