Phone Calls

I enjoy answering the telephone, as today there have been 6 calls. 5 out of 6 calls have brought in money to my retail business. I sell fish and pond supplies and there are times that customers call at all hours. If you own a retail business, do you get calls at all hours?
If you work for somebody else does the phone ring a lot or just a few calls each day? The one place I am certain isn't for me are pizza places that get 100's of calls and people want their food right now. I will admit dealing with difficult customers is a fast way to have a bad day.

My hubby is a manager of a Taco Bell that is open till 3 am now hes the boss so he doesnt have to close the place but.......he does get calls at all hours when things come up. It so sucks when you are fast asleep at 4 am and the places security system calls to tell us they didnt turn ont the alarm when they left. Ahh I hate being woke up.

I rarely receive calls at 4:00am for business. This would be bad news. It would be to hard to stay awake during the afternoon, specially if the weather is warm. I would need a nap. Thanks for the reply.

I work for a small company. Just me and my two bosses. I am their assistant so, I answer the phone and do whatever else they need me to do. We have our busy times and our slower times. Right now, is a slow time. But, it picks up during the summer a bit more. I would never say I am swamped with calls. But, you are right that a difficult customer can make it a bad day. I actually had a nightmare about our worst most annoying customer a couple nights ago. LOL! For the most part, people don't get too cranky but, if I am the only one if the office and they have been unable to get a hold of my boss, then they do tend to take it out on me.
My hubby, on the other hand, used to have to be on-call (works as a Database Administrator and other various things for his company) once every 9 weeks. That was annoying because the blackberry they provide for the on-call people would ring at all hours of the day and night. I don't sleep well on my own. Then, always, right around the time I would finally fall asleep, the dang phone would ring. Fortunately, this week is his last on-call week ever! The duty has been passed on to someone else 2 years after he should have had it taken out of his hands due to his promotion two years ago. And, this on-call crud has been going on for about 8 years so, it is about time that torch was passed on! LOL!
