So, last week, we upgraded our Directv. We now have a HD/DVR box. I told hubby that I would not be using the DVR. TUrns out that I am a liar. I adore the stupid thing!!!
OMG, how did I ever live without this thing?
So tell me folks, do you use a Tivo or DVR? And, if so, what do you record? I'm recording baseball games and movies so far. I love this!!!

This is a funny ha ha discussion. And yes I am! When I lost my cable because I couldn't pay the bill for a month and a half the thing I missed most was my DVR and list of pre-recorded movies that I could watch anytime I wanted. Having DVR also makes my life as a writer easier. I am serious it helps my occupation. Now when weird documentaries come on the Discovery Channel that I want to write about or research further I don't need to stay up til 4AM watching them. The best example of this is about a year ago when I was obsessed with Hitler and Eugenics. There were all these programs on the History Channel, I think it was Eugenics remembrance week or something which while it may sound creepy was really helpful to my research. Of course these programs came on at midnight or 1AM, just the sort of thing you want to watch before you to go sleep, especially if you are a disabled person like me. It began to give me nightmares when I tried to watch them live. Fortunately I had a good friend that suggested I watch them in the daylight with my cat so it wouldn't be as scary. Another way it has really helped me is that I can record all the Olympic action to make sure I don't miss anyone who should be mentioned in my daily blog about the games. I've recorded at least 100 hours since the Olympics has started.

Oh I love my DVR. I record so much I havent had to watch a commercial in a long time. It saves you time when you can skip all them silly commercials.

We have a DVR with our cable service and couldn't do without it. My husband works an odd schedule and would never have seen his march madness games otherwise. I like it because when the guys have the TV all tied up, I can tape my shows for later on. I don't watch a lot of TV, but I have my special shows I would hate to miss. When we had Time Warner, we had more memory though. Now with Cox, it seems like the memory gets used up s quickly. I had to delete some shows just to get two basketball games taped the other day. What I really like is the ability to fast forward through commercials - I don't waste as much time watching my shows by about half!

Due to a situation out of my control...I do not have DVR right now. Yes, it is amazing how quickly one becomes completely spoiled by it!! It takes watching TV to a whole new level.
At least you admit when you're wrong...lol!

I don't have DVR or TiVo. My boyfriend's brother has it at his house, so I was able to use it while I was there babysitting his daughter one day, but that was it. They record television shows, and cartoons for the baby. I think I would end up recording CSI and Law and Order. I wouldn't really record any movies though, because I have On Demand Premium channels, so I have plenty of movies to watch.

LOL, I remember when we got ours. I said I would never use it. Wrong. The kids use it more than I do. I had some really great stuff recorded and then we had to switch cable boxes because we went HD and I lost everything. Never dawned on me that would happen. I had the Princess Di memorial concert on there, etc. I started recording General Hospital but then I would never get anything done, so I stopped that.
