Why do you pick a particular product when shopping?

My spouse has her choice of products whenever she goes shopping. I have often wondered why she does not give a chance to other brands. So about 2 weeks ago I decided to do a little grocery shopping (though we didn’t need it) and I bought every brand I know she does not buy. We discover that some of them were cheaper and also of good quality (she attested to this fact) so I asked her why she had always preferred the brands she buys and she said its because she grew up to know them so she is more comfortable with them. When you go shopping for groceries what determines your choice of brand?

i'm willing to try new brands...especially if they are on sale. I'll go with whatevers on sale if i havent tried it before or know it tastes good. I like to stick with things i know have good flavour already if theres nothing on sale.
One thing i do buy alot of is bulk nuts and juices...to me they arent much different than going and buying koolaid or tang...just a little bit cheaper and i dont have a bunch of little packets to get lost.

yes its not always the best to be too rigid in our buying patterns there are times when we need to give some other products some chances and i like your style of buying these products whenver they are on sale,if eventually you dont like their taste or flavour you have not lost so much, its a bargain whichever way it goes

I have certain things that have to be name brand. All of my meats, detergents, breads, soaps, toothpaste have to be name brand. I have found my husband is allergic to off brand laundry detergents. Off brand bread dries out to fast. My husband and kids will eat an off brand of hot dogs but I can't for some reason. I guess alot of this is in my head. But I have to be happy with what I buy.

yes maybe you can choose to go for brands because of their side effects, some times ago there was this particular brand of coffee that gives me headache each time i drink it so it became a no buy for me while the other ones i use has no negative effect, and is alos good quality and cheaper too,i have stuck with it for more than 7 years now

I grew up in a house that was all name brands. After living with my ex and having a limited budget, that was not always possible. So I started using whatever I could get. There are somethings - like cheese - that I only buy one brand of because that is the one brand I like over all the others.

ok at least now you are not too particular about brands its just that you like the cheese brand over others not that you wont buy other brands, its sometimes good to sample every brand you can findas long as they are quality products

I always buy most of the things that I know are good also. I do try new brands though, but I hate to waste money on something that I do not know much about. I have to know that it is of good quality for my family to eat it. I would hate to buy it and then have to throw it in the garbage because it just didn't taste good. Every now and then, I try something new though.

Myself, I'm not particularly picky so I do actually give all brands a chance. My family is different so I have to ease new brands in. But if I buy it once and they don't like it, I'll try another one or go back to the old brand.
My husband used to declare he never liked the generic, or cheap brands of bread, so I used to buy name brands like Wonder and Butternut, but when they started being dry even upon opening, he'd complain so I'd try other brands. Now, he's not picky about the brand of the bread, as long as it's soft and moist upon opening.
So, if there's something cheaper, I'll try it. If it gets bad reviews, we go back to the name brand.

i guess i like that style you use to determine what you buy for your family, its just that some people just dont think they should try other brands at least for a change it doesnt have to be just the issue of price, though sometimes it does matter but if other brands taste as good why not?
