Auto designer absurdity

We have a 2006 Ford F150 we are currently doing repairs on for a customer. It needs the brake pads replaced on the front and rear and needs all 4 rotors turned. The spindle nuts that hold the front rotors in place have stamped in them that they must be replaced each time. You can not reuse them. They cost me $18.00 each. This is absurd! Now, since you generally will go through two sets of front pads to one set of rears, plus the fact that sometimes rotors get out of round in between replacing the pads, that is going to run into quite a few spindle nuts being replaced over the time of owning the vehicle. I am beginning to wonder, do the "rocket scientists" that design the cars have to work on them? Do they have to pay for parts? Do they have a clue? Seems like just another way to take advantage of people to me.
