My husband and I recently watched a documentary on bee keepers. The one thing they noted was that organically raised bees did not experience colony collasp or other deaths. We would like to try having a colony of bees. Has anyone had any experience with bee keeping? How to get started? Tips?

A friend of mine here in the UK keeps bees and makes a reasonable income in honey and wax sales from them. Whilst he did have experience of bee keeping previously, when he moved here he joined a local bee keepers club and through them quickly brought himself up to speed with what is happening in the Bee World. He also buys his hive kits etc through them because they get a discount. I imagine that there must be similar clubs in the US. Bees are very big business there. You may find details in local directories, your local library or even Yellow/White pages. Happy bee keeping.

Thank you for your tip! We hope to start maybe this year, if not, then we have some more time to explore the bee world and start it next year... Thanks again!
