Okay as my friends know I love taking photos and adding them to my discussions as wel as in responses and comments. This is the best shot for this discussion as the others I thought about for humor just may have grossed some out. It is fairly warm here being about 45 degrees. Yes for April 13th in Minnesota that is warm. Well things have warmed up with the sun as far as the ground goes. This means being able to scopp the doo doo up from Busters ventures all winter long before it gets a bit ripe in the sun. So is it that time for your yard to be claered of the dogs poo? How do you do this? We scoopp it up with a small shovel and small rake. Som of it will be worked into the soil where there are no garden plants growing. the rest will be placed with the other garbage do be picked up. This is the only job of dog ownership and the spring that I detest. Okay I have left this task to the wife today as I am WORKING today. I'll be out there during the week as it warms up into the mid 60's. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

What is really gross is when it rains and the dog dirt is kind of runny from being wet.. I clean mine up, sometime even in the winter and throw it into a bag to be thrown out with the trash..I use a shovel that has broken handle, so everyone knows not to use it for other things.. Don't work too hard, and remember, it could be worse, you could be picking up after a German Shepherd..Wow,now that is a lot of dog dirt..

Yes they were show dogs as well given to me by a friend that moved out of State. She had 5 and could only take 3. I gave one away then met my wife shortly after. She had a chiauhaha. However it's spelled. Our first argument was which dog to keep. She won of course. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I kind of laughed at this. Do you mean to say that you have to let Busters poos collect all winter under the snow, then when the snow melts, start picking it up? Yuck. I wonder what state the poo is in by then. When I didn't have Dave around, I would rake up the dog poos & put them in a dog compost toilet, that I had in the back yard. When this was destroyed by the lawn mowing man, I eventually just got to raking up all the dog poos & putting them under the fruit trees. My hubby has different ideas. He puts a high pressure sprout on the hose, & waters it into the lawn, to act as fertiliser. When the poos accumulate in other parts of the yard, hubby digs a hole, I have to rake up all the poos & deposit them in the hole. Hubby can't do this as it makes him vomit.

I use the hose on it during the summer. But it's too cold in the winter to have the hose hooked uopp or to go out picking it up. They are pretty frozen and solid still right now to pick up. After this weeks 60 degree weather they will ripen and soften and start reeking really bad. So I'll be busy this week thats for sure. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I just took care of that little job a couple of days ago. My yard had finally become dried out enough to pick up the poop without sinking into the mud. I put on rubber gloves and then use a double bag, and an additional two bags over my glove hand to pick up the piles. What's weird is that after the whole winter season, I didn't find near as much around the yard as I thought, and I think it must have got turned to mush and incorporated into the ground. At least the grass is coming up greener in that area.

I've areas that Buster uses that are still covered a bit with snow and ice. So it'll be a few days before I finish. Going out later to clean a little more up. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

wow.... this is quite an interesting and yet very weird discussion. I am the first to admit that after reading this I am rather glad that i don't have a dog lol :) i have cats but at least they poop in the box every time and i never have to rake it up in order to get rid of it lol. Doo doo duty just sound horrible so have fun with that i am glad my boyfriend never makes me clean the litter box lol :)

Oh this is pleasant compared to taking him for a walk. The city law is we have to clean up after they leave their little logs. Meaning I have to grab the baggie fro my pocket and pick it up and tie it shut to dispose of later. the heat from this is gross as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

I am glad I don't have a dog anymore just for that reason, I have cats and I have to clean the darn cat box out and that is not too appealing either. We can't leave the cat box go or we would not be able to live in the house lol.

lol The joys of having dogs. I usually do a weekly clean-up of landmines cept in the winter. Then I only do it when all the snow has melted but b4 the next snow hits us. I've cleaned up several times this winter and was just thinking out loud about this very thing when Domingo was out going potty early this am. I'll be venturing out today for a lil while and will be doing the poop patrol. I, too, use a rake and shovel designed for just this purpose and dump it all in a bucket with a lid. Once the bucket gets full, I take it out into the woods and dump it out there then rinse the bucket out real good with the hose, again out in the woods.

That's how we do it most times as well. Some days in the winter if it isn't too cold I will pick up what isn't frozen to the ground as well. makes it easier when it gets this nice. Not too much then all at once. This will take a few days at least I am sure. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

When I was in MN I had the two German Shepherds and it wasn't too bad picking up behind them. At least I didn't think it was when compared to the six horses I can to pick up after. THAT was a chore!

I don't have a dog so I don't have to face this particular chore. But I remember my grandfather used to scoop up the doggy doo and put it in his vegie patch as fertiliser... those vegies were VERY healthy

Grandpa Bob you want some of this hothot California air, wish I could send it to you lol I see my neighbors out on walks carrying their pooper scooper in one hand and always applaud them for that. some one brings a big dog onto the lawn in our frontcouryard and never picks up after them. our gardener is a sweet old mexican man who works so hard every day here keeping the grounds so pretty and then some oaf leaves him that mess. I yelled at this one man who let his dog do that, as I was waiting for a cab and standing there. he was pretty rude but he dug in his pocket and came out with a paper sack. he did pick 'up the dogs poop but he wasn't a bit happy with me.I did it just because I do admire our old gardener for the work he does,he looks to be in his mid seventies. He does have a crew of younger guys who mow the lawns but this old guy c limbson ladders 'and prunes the bushs and the trees. he is really very busy and very friendly too. I always speak to him when I see him.

I thought that was what the plastic bags from the store were for. lol I turn it inside out and use it like a glove, sort of, and just pick it up. Turn the bag right side out, tie and toss.

We live out in the country, and so we don't have to clean up dog doo. It gets absorbed into the ground, you can't see it or smell it. Whenever spring gets here we sure have bright green grass tho. We also lease out our pasture, and there are cows in it. There are land mines all over the place out there, but we don't go scoop that up. So I don't know what the difference would be in dog doo and cow doo doo...lol.
