What colors are you getting

some morning egg delivery - I love the variety of egg colors from home grown free ranged chickens... there is something so wholesome about displaying all the different colors and textures in a wire basket on the counter -

I miss having Americaunas with their eggs in varying colors of green and blue - they along with the turkens seem to have the best people friendly personalities, too. I guess that is why ours were the first to be taken by predators - they were very docile. Anyhow,What color eggs have you been getting?

Eggs at my store run from very white to off-white to shades of brown and even speckled. I have at times had natural not dyed eggs that were blues and greens.

I have always wanted to keep chickens but never have. We buy brown eggs from our supermarket.. Here in New England the saying is "brown eggs are local eggs and local eggs are fresh"...lol I have a neighbor that has lots of chickens but all their eggs are spoken for.... hehe Maybe some day, who knows. Thanks for sharing all the information about eggs. The colors sound so lovely. Brightest Blessings, Mari

oh mari, you should give it a go.... keep 2 or 3 hens to start (they are social animals and do best with company) but be prepared to be so addicted to them in short time that you will want to obtain many more.

I buy my eggs from the local supermarket so have no idea what breed of chicken they come from as they are just the usual color of white. I would love to see your americaunas in their shades of green and blue. do these eggs taste any differnt than our white eggs, just curious.

all else being equal ( care, health, diet etc of bird) the eggs taste the same one color to the next. I do find that the fresh and free ranged eggs do taste different over the regular store purchased eggs, though.
