Off Out Tonight... Go Rovers!

It's not a usual occurrence for me to go and support my local, village football team, but I was asked last week, if I'd like to join them for their Cup Final game tonight against Varndean. There will be a bus going from the local pub, to Hanbury Park Stadium, and I have booked a place. I love to watch football, and since all the players are my younger set of friends, from the village, I shall be there in support, enjoying every minute. There's a stand at Hanbury Park, which is situated in Haywards Heath, some 4-5 miles from the village. I chose to take the community bus with them, because I know there will be much jollity and excitement thereon. It makes the evening. So... I shan't be around a lot tonight... even less time if they actually lift the trophy at the end, but I'll let anybody who's interested know the result on my return. Do you ever attend sports where local people are involved? I love the atmosphere and the bonding. Go Rovers!!!

I feel a bit stupid here... there is a final, but it's next Tuesday! Never mind, I'll still be going as I've booked a place. It's only a small, local team, but they generate a lot of interest and excitement when they put the village name on the map. I will keep you posted on what happens next week. Please excuse my blondness. Brightest Blessings.

Emmmmm, yes, but have they won anything this year? Sorry, my friend, I forgot that they're still in the European Championships, but they have to get past Liverpool in the semis. I don't know whether they can do that, having been defeated by them twice in recent cup finals, but I'll be rooting for you!!! Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution.

Yes, it's certainly your turn, if that's appropriate. I have to admit though, I do like Liverpool. No matter... I'll be rootin' for ya this time, as I think you deserve a win over them. Whoever gets to the final out of the two, I feel will lift the trophy. I hope it's not Man U anyway!

I'll update you on the game next week, my dear friend. Truth of the matter is, I had a blonde, or senior moment and brought the game forward a week. It wasn't last night, but next Tuesday. Still, never mind, it will soon be here and the tension is mounting! Thank you for your support and Brightest Blessings, my dear friend. xx

At least you phoned and found out that you would be confused and wondering you were standing all alone waiting and realising when it was too late.

It wouldn't have come to that as the bus was leaving from the pub, and I wouldn't have been stranded there. I would have been disappointed though!

Hi Darkwing! oh that would be fun! I am sure you will have an exciting day! And probably when you get back your voice will be a little hoarse from the shouting and cheering! I used to go on games before with my brother since he was a basketball player when we were young. We use to attend all his games and cheer for him and his team. That was really one of my happy times! Take care and have a nice day!

Yes, great fun, my dear friend... next week! I made a booboo. I phoned the pub to see what time the bus was leaving, and was told it's next week, so I still have time to work up the excitement. Yes, I think it's great to support the youngsters. They're all friends of mine anyway, and I feel the need to support them when they do well. Brightest Blessings my dear friend, and thank you for your contribution. xxx

Yes, it was a good job I did phone the pub first, or I'd have felt a little foolish sitting down there in my football supporter's gear! Thank you for your very kinds words my dear friend. xxx

Oh how wonderful for you, Go Rovers, go, go, go. Yes, definitely want to know how you got on. And it is really fun to go in the village bus, the atmosphere there will be brilliant but if you do hold up the cup then the atmosphere on the bus back is going to be LOUD and FUN. Have a wonderful evening, enjoy yourself, relax and have a great time!

Hi, Pinks. Yes, I'm looking forward to it very much. The only problem is, I made a mistake and it's next Tuesday, so I have a few days to wait yet. However, it won't be long and the tension is mounting! I'll certainly come back and update you on the game. Thank you for your contribution and Brightest Blessings. x

Austin is so big and I'm so not interested in sports. I guess if the town were smaller and more close knit, but... Austin is the 5th largest city in Texas, and there are plenty of things to do, if I could convince myself to drag myself out after I get home at night. But since I don't drink, and I'm tired of being out all day doing things, I'm happy to sit at home on the computer or in front of the TV and craft. I know some towns in Texas are totally tied up in the local high school football, but since I don't have kids, never liked football and don't like the local university, that kind of leaves me out of those things. Of course, we're talking American football in this case, not the rest of the world's football a.k.a. soccer

I am not much of a sporty person to be honest, I do not enjoy watching it much, but I remember once a friend invited me to go and watch a football match with them, I only went because they just wanted me to experience it. But do you know it was the most fun I had in a long time, everything about it, the atmospere, the smell, the friendliness of other fans, on the same supporting side of course. I can honestly say I had a ball!!

I love football anyway, but your comment just goes to show that if local people are involved and your right in there with the atmosphere and excitement, it doesn't really matter about the game. Your heart fills with pride, and as you say, the other supporters, the smell of the turf and body rub, all comes together to give you an event that you remember. Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution, my friend.

There is nothing like a live game of football. I wish all the couch potatoes would realise that and go watch their local team instead of sitting watching the big boring teams. My team Hibernian isn't small in Scotland but obviously in the greater footy scheme of things we are considered small, so I suppose it is a kinda local team especially as friends of mine know some players from school.

I agree... I love to go to the stadiums and support. Unfortunately, my favourite team is 300 miles away, but another supporter in the village has offered to take me soon, so hopefully, we'll make the play-offs and go up this year. I still watch it on the TV if it promises to be a good match. I went to the pub last week and watched Liverpool v Arsenal on the big screen, and was the noisiest person in the pub!!! I just can't avoid jumping up and yelling! Hibernian can't be that small a team, I agree, because I know them! It's great when you have a local team to support, and especially if some of the players have grown up locally. Thank you for your contribution my friend, and Brightest Blessings.

That's the best way to build a team and keep it fresh, by taking in local youngsters.

Oh I'm so glad to know that someone outside of Scotland knows who my beloved Hibernian are. There have always been local players in the team, not so much now but hopefully we have some good local youngsters coming through.
