Do you only let family babysit? What about friends? Do you have a sitter that is NOT a family member or close friend?
I remember always being the teenager that parents near by would call. Not saying that I wasn't trust worthy but those parents never really asked a lot of questions.
These days you have to ask a lot of questions. What are some things you look for in a sitter?

I will only use someone that I know my girls know and most importantly that cares about them I need to know they will be as safe as possible and they will be as safe with a friend who cares about them as they would be with me.
Mainly our neice looks after our two children she just turned 20 but has babysat for out eldest since she was 17 she is more like an aunt to our children with there being such a big age gap and loves them completley so I know they will come to no harm with her and that is what is important to me

It must be nice to have some one close to you to baby sit. I really don't have any one aside from family to sit for my daughter. And family is limited here in PA. In FL I have my entire family who would just love to watch her but here I have my mother in law and sister in law.

Dependability, responsible, has a vehicle. I also ask them about their experience, how long they have lived around here, if they have been in trouble for anything with the law, if they know CPR, if they are flexible with their schedule, what to do in an emergency, & references.
I haven't had to have to many people outside of close friends and family take care of my children because I am not to comfortable leaving my children with just anyone. You never know what will or can happen in these instances so I prefer to leave mine with family.
When I lived in the city I did have to put them in a day care out there and it was horrible on me. The kids loved her like she was a grandma. It took me several days and phone calls before I found the right one. I went there and asked several questions before making up my mind.
