I am a Christian because I have a personal relationship with Christ. I follow his teachings and I strive to excell as I feel He wants me to. I take life with a grain of common sense. I believe in science and I keep my mind opened to alternative ways of thinking. I believe that we are all blessed with a brain with which to think and a heart with which to feel. jesus encourages my questioning and he encourages my feelings.
Why are you a Christian????

That is great. The reasons you list for being a Christian, are the reasons I am not. I don't have or want a personal relationship with Jesus.I can't follow His teachings and I don't care which way He wants me to go, if isn't a path I am comfortable with, I won't do it.But I agree that we are blessed with brains to think and hearts that feel. I do believe what Jesus did and who He is but He isn't the rabi for me.I hope I didn't offend you.

No, of course you didn't offend me. You stated your spiritual path and didn't condemn mine. Compared to many people that I have come across, that is pretty close to perfect. LOL. I'm mostly interested in why people who call themselves christian believe they are. I've found that many don't know much about what he said or how he preached. I guess I let the cat out of the bag.
So, how about those caps?? I tried to send you a pm, but my pm doesn't work right now. If they can get out of this series, I'll be ecstatic. If they can't, I'll be proud for what they did accomplish this year. I'm writing about it on AC. I'll send you the link when I complete the task.

Whew. I am so glad you wern't offended. I wasn't sure I should have commented because I am not a Christian.I know enough of His teachings to know there is no way I could follow it.
The Caps are a great surprise. Ovie is great. I hadn't really been paying attention to the Caps until early March with the countdown to 61 goals for Ovie.I like his style. He has finesse but he isn't a finesse player. he will finish his checks and will fight if they want to. It has been great to see.I don't know if they can beat the Flyers two more times, but at least they made it to the playoffs.

No, hon. I don't feel offended and I am actually fascinated that you chose Judaism. My father is a Jew by birth. He converted when he was studying to be a rabbi. I respect that. I also respect when things go in the other direction. I'm actually very fascinated about how and when everyone chooses their spiritual paths. I am a Christian by birth and I am a Christian by choice.
I dig Ovie too. He is sooo unlike the Russian players of old. He plays hard. He hits. He scores. He assists. I especially love to see them celebrate. Every goal is a source of celebration. As it should be.

For me being a christian is not primarily about being baptised and following the various practices such as communinions etc...but rather that personal connecttion I have with Christ. Everything else is secondary and a byproduct of the relationship I have with Christ. This allows me to be rational and not fanatic about my faith/beliefs and hence disrespectful to those who have different beliefs. (lol)

BRAVO!! and IMO thats how it SHOULD BE! I have a very dear friend who is Catholic BUT she is also a "dabbling Pagan" (as she puts it LOL) and ppl over the yrs have given her a hard time about it saying its not possible blah blah blah and her response is basically this "My relationship with God is between me and God." and she's right...she, like you, lives as SHE FEELS HE WANTS HER TO....and thats the best way to do it as far as I'm concerned..
As for me? Well I'm not Christian
