What things do you do for yourself to develop your inner self

Do you occassionally let your inner child out to play ie. go to a playground and play on the swings and equipment. Play with your children or other peoples children.
Do you connect with your inner self and your inner beauty and do affirmation activities or possitive affermation therapy. This is a very good way to change one's self image gradually and learn to think and expect better things from yourself?
Do you take time every day to stop and enjoy the day, where you are physically, spiritually, or intellectually?

I do my best to enjoy each and every day. The Earth has been around for a few billion years. Me - not quite as long. There is so much to learn, to see, and to do. And if I don't get it all done by the time it's for me to go, well, maybe something even better awaits me on the other side.

that is a very smart perspective to take. The earth is a playground for the children of the living God, but we also have a responsibility to it and to him. Developing your inner self is an important task.

We share a very similar view here sharone... for many years now I have viewed myself as the offspring of the marriage between spirit and matter... discovering the limitlessness of my being and learning to enjoy my inheritance here that is this playground called Earth. But there is much to be learned from play... like how to wield your godly type powers. I'm all into that aspect!

clem leave zig zag buddha alone. If every once in awhile the 420 leads us down the path to deep thoughts it is not for you to mock! Don't make me seperate you two! (Wags finger in both of your faces)

I recently started meditating. It is a learning process. I can say that it has improved my inner self. I feel calmer. And when I'm not calm, it helps to calm me. I just never realized what hard work meditating is. It is a lot harder than I would have ever thought to quiet my mind. I never realized how many unchecked thoughts go thru your mind. Now as much as possible, I try to check the negative thoughts at the gate (so to speak). Anyway, it has helped me enjoy other things even more than I already did, like time with my family.

Meditation, yoga, and other holistic approaches to the body as a whole are great tools for growing the inner self and addressing the needs of that part of oneself.

are you being sarcastic here clem? Because you just sound petulant and petty. These are all great ways to develop ones inner self. Which you obviously should spend a little more time on and a little less time making sarcastic comments to people who are trying to have a serious discussion.

Yea, I do, whenever the circumstances of my life permit. I can't bring myself to say I enjoy myself everyday, but it would be nice as a relief break from all the hassles of routine life.
As for the inner child thingy, not really, I'm just out of the cocoon and learning my ways out to endure the "adult" world. Maybe, I would like it better after ten years.

sometimes life can be so un-affirming, that is the object of this exercise, to affirm yourself and your value as a person and in your life. It's really all about you!

That is one of the best ways for one to put this world into perspective. Play is as important for adults as it is for children.

I don't really segregate myself out like that. But if I did, I would not occasionally let my inner child out to play, my inner child would run free at all times.
But yeah, it is sure easy to get caught up in day to day issues where you are supposed to 'think like an adult', hehehe. But here are the things I do to open the channel between my physical and non-physical, or spiritual, aspect:
I try to meditate for 15 or 20 minutes a day. I just sit here with nothing to do but breathe and I pretty much just do breathing exercises. Deep abdominal breathing, fully expanding the lungs on the inhale, and engaging the abdominals on the exhale. My objective is to simply quiet my mind and allow the life force to flow through me, unobstructed by any resistant thought. I scour my body for tension and release it.
I am mad for color therapy, and the first thing I do when I move into a new house is paint my current favorite color schemes in the appropriate places... like where I am now my computer room - the room where I spend most of my life these days, hehehe - is painted violet for inspiration and wisdom. Here is a link to some info that I use religiously (if you're interested):
http://www.ehow.com/how_4475565_decorate-color-therapy.html
I also try to spend some time every day practicing yoga or dancing on my trampoline, both of them really keep me connected and in good shape.
Additionally, I like to spend some time every day daydreaming and visualizing what I would like to see in my future, and why I would like to see it there, hehehe. But I don't actually see it as 'future' I see it more as my right here right now 'virtual reality'.
And overall, any time I am faced with something that I do not like, it is very useful for me to decide what I would prefer and then think about that and visualize it until I can get a strong feeling of it, then I just let the subject go. If it comes up again later, I just do the whole process over again. Sometimes I have to do some mighty playful cajoling to talk myself out of a well established habit of thought, even if only for the moment! But I have kept at it, so not only is it getting easier, but I am seeing some very pleasant results.

Is there something going on between you two that I don't know about? Clem has seen fit to answer every single comment of yours. And if I had to categorize or charachterize his commentary I would say that he is following and flaming you. Which really is not cool and has no place in a serious discussion.

I thought it might be somethinglike that. Apparently now he is in love with me too it would seem by the amount of commentary he has submitted to my posts.

I am literally reliving my childhood, so I do things like buy myself childhood toys like legos and things.
I also try to take time to do deep breathing, set aside time to have self reflection, and read self help and motivational books.
I do what I can to be "enlightened" as possible - reading as much as I can about other genders, cultures, and oppressed groups around the planet. It makes for a more tolerant, less cruel world.

That is great! I live with one leg in both, one on the adult side one one the kid side, but like a kid I am straddling the fence instead of sitting on the ground on either side. The world can certainly lose some of it's wonder when seen with adult eyes.
