Did you even read this discussion question?

I notice in some of my discussions that there is at least one person who does not answer the discussion topic correctly. For example if I ask what did you have for dinner? They will respond with I love going to the carnival because I like to eat cotton candy. If the question is what do you think of this picture? They respond, I can't go outside when it's raining because I will get sick. It's a little frustrating. Maybe they just read one line, maybe they don't understand English but I don't think my discussions are that hard to follow. Does anyone else notice this?

I know with me, I sometimes will skim over a discussion topic if it's more than a few lines long. But, I often go back and refer to it as I am writing a response. And, of course, there are times when I think I totally misunderstood the topic to begin with. But, mostly, I try to stick with the topic.
I think you are right when you said that maybe they don't understand English. I know a lot of people here are trying to learn English while they are here. Some, I wonder, might just be copying and pasting their responses from another discussion because they don't know any English at all. And, I think some people, flat out, don't understand how to use this site in the least.

Yes, I get this all the time. Some people just read the title of the discussion, if that, and then answer from there. I started a discussion called How Many Names do you have? I explained in the body of the discussion that I didn't mean how many names in your name, or how many nicknames, but have they ever experienced in their family being call all their siblings/relatives names before the family member called them by their own name. Most people got it off the bat and responded accordingly, but at least five people went into how many names they had, or nicknames.
I wish people would read.
