I love nuts. Any kind of nuts, but my favorites are pecans and brazilian nuts, which are not called brazilian nuts in Brazil, of course :)
I like the taste, but even mostly the texture of nuts.
I eat them as a snack, I put them in my cakes, I even mix them in salads or cook with some of them.
I know they're healthy, but like with everything else we should eat them in moderation.
DO you like nuts? What are your favorites? What is it that you like about them?

I like them because they are a portable, high protein snack. I like cashews and pecans a lot, but I really like them all.

Hello Arkaf,
Mmmmmmm, I love nuts! That is my typical afternoon snack. Macadamia's are probably my favorite. I enjoy the taste and texture. Though, I reserve macadamia nuts as a special treat -- as they're so expensive.
"Planters" makes a specialty mix called "Deluxe Mixed Nuts". It contains no peanuts -- just cashews, almonds, pecans, brazil nuts, and hazelnuts. Of this blend, I think that I prefer the hazelnuts and cashews the best. Though, the others are mighty tasty as well. We always keep a jar of "Deluxe Mixed Nuts" in the house.
What do I like about them? Hmmmm, aside from the terrific flavors of the individual nuts, I appreciate that they are a quick, easy snack, rich in nutrients. I also enjoy the texture. I could do without the saltiness of them, as I'm not a big fan of salty tasting foods. Though, it's more difficult to find unsalted nuts. Fortunately, the Deluxe Mix that I referred to above is less salty than any other mix that I've found. Which of course, allows for the taste of the individual nuts to emerge.
I don't bake much, but when I do it will usually include some kind of nuts as an ingredient. I have found that finely ground nuts, especially walnuts & pecans, makes a great alternative pie crust. I am allergic to gluten, so I can't eat most grain-flour. As such, it's wonderful that nuts will adequately substitute for a wheat flour pie crust.
I rarely think to put nuts on my salads. Though, often use them in cooking, particularly pine nuts. In fact, pine nuts are the 'secret ingredient' that makes my Thanksgiving stuffing so yummy. I also use hazelnut oil, and almond oil in my home-made soaps & skin care products, and when cooking. I believe that nut oils are a much healthier alternative to lard, canola oil, or corn oil when cooking. Plus, the nutty flavor adds nicely to whatever I'm conjuring up in the kitchen.
Yup, it sounds like we're both a couple of 'nuts' for nuts!

LOL nuts for nuts... that describes it quite well :):):)
I used to eat so many pine nuts back home. We used to go for a walk in the woods - lots of pine trees - and pick up the pine cones. THen we would sit down with a rock on one hand and the pine cones on the other and enjoy the loot hehehehehe ALl for free.. and in here they are so expensive !!!
I prefer my nuts unsalted too although I like everything else to the salty side.
I never thought about nuts oil for food. I don't use lard canola or corn oil though, I use olive oil which is healthier
