Here is an update on one of the bottle babies I told you about last fall. Meowy Greetings! Thought you'd like to know how miss Mia is doing. She has doubled in weight since I brought her home. She has also gotten a LOT fluffier. She seems to be deliriously happy. She is no longer coming to me for reassurances & her "comforting" nursing on me has all but stopped. She now occupies her days & nights with the curiosity, exploration & investigation appropriate for her age. I'm still trying to teach her that the kitchen counters are "off limits" & claw sharpening is not allowed on the furniture. The other cats seem to have gotten very comfortable with her. Norton (my mixed tabby male) absolutely adores her! The two younger males play with Mia regularly & she keeps them on their toes! You would not recognize her today. She's become strong & healthy & completely mischeivous. Mia still comes & lays on my chest & purrs for me almost everyday. She has most everything a cat could want--lots of toys & friends to play with, plentiful food & water, lots of places to birdwatch & loving humans. What more could a cat want? She may even surprise us & grow from a "runt" to be larger than any of us would have guessed. If she is indeed mostly MaineCoon, she will not reach her full size until she is 2-3 years old & she could weigh as much as 12 pounds at that point (the average weight of a female MaineCoon). She gets more beautiful & fluffy soft each passing month & I love her dearly. Thank you for being a part of keeping her alive & allowing me to make her a part of my family's lives. Mia's mom Pix attached. As a size perspective, the floor tiles are 12" squares **We are guessing that the new owner decided she was part mainecoon and that the seperation thing must be from being seperated from her brothers.**

Wow! Mia sure has come a long way from being how she was when you first brought her home. Just goes to show what alot of love and food can do. MaineCoon? She is going to be one beautiful cat when full grown. Of course, you know that already being she's getting more beautiful as the days go by. Lightning was part MaineCoon and his top weight ever was 17lbs. and not one ounce of fat on his body either. Talk bout sassy thou. lol But that was only cause he was a bottle baby himself from the day he was born and mommy was his main bottle giver.

Mia is the cat on the left, right? If so, looks part MaineCoon to me. Just hasn't fluffed out completely yet is all.

I don't think she's really part mainecoon - and this is an update from her new owner.

I am so delighted to hear that she is doing so well. I have just one cat now, Junior is a male part himalayan but he doesn't like cats. I would love to bring in a kitten but I am afraid he would fight, we had a kitten here once and he just would not leave her alone. Yet I do want another cat, I just don't know what to do.

I'm sorry Junior doesn't like other cats. I have a friend with a cat hating cat and while she might've once liked 2 cats, she's got to wait until Pixie goes before even considering it.

My previous cat, Cleopatra, (her in my avatar) was like that. She would attack any other cat who tried to move in and though I did at one time take in a stray, I had to divide the house with one cat in each part. If they did happen to meet they fought, though that did not happen too often as I was pretty careful with keeping them apart. On one occasion though, I had the incomer on my lap when Cleo walked into the room. as soon as he saw her he jumped off me and right onto her with the result that they went nose to nose in a all out claws and teeth fight I had to go in and drag them apart with my bare hands Fortunately neither of them suffered any serious injury, though there where clumps of black and white fur all over the carpet, and I got off with just a few scratches - par for the course for a cat owner.

I wish I could've kept those babies, but they are better off getting new homes

Aww--Mia is a beauty. You do a great job Elic of taking care of kitties and the fact that Mia is thriving so well is all of course due to you.

Thanks, Pye, it does me good to hear someone say that, the b...woman that took the kittens seemed to think we were bad mommies.

This was such a delight to read. You affection and pleasure you take in the cats comes through beautifully. I am horrendously allergic to cats, but if I lived near would probably take my health in my hands for a peek at her. What a sweetheart she sounds like. It will be interesting to see what a big girl she grows up to be.

This new owner has definately been more in touch than some of the others. So, its real nice to see this baby that I started taking care of at 10 days old, growing up.
