I'm using XnView a utility for viewing almost all popular image format, convert one format to another and perform image manipulations such as resize, rotate, crop, adjust colors and much more. If you have the right video codec installed, you can preview: VCD/DVD, avi, mpg, flv and mkv videos.
It is freeware for private non-comercial use and will run on Windows, MAC and Linux, for much detailed features see http://www.xnview.com/

I tend to use Adobe Photoshop for any image editing. It may be a little user unfreindly at first but it is an excellent program.
If I am simply viewing an image then I still mostly use Photoshop, but I have used Microsoft Office Picture Manager from time to time because it loads a lot faster.

Adobe Photoshop is one mean photo editor, the best I would say in it s class. The interface appear simple yet very intimidating for a nubie. It does load slow even on newer machine this is why I still stick with 7.
Microsoft Office Picture Manager is another excellent viewer and offer common picture manipulation tools too. With this and Photoshop, you're pretty much covered in terms of image processing.
Thanks Asylum for sharing your tools.

I have been using FastStone Image Viewer for years and have yet to find one as great for my purposes. It is quick, attractive, easy-to-navigate and has many features that work without fault. Many years ago, I used ACDSee and occasionally now I will check out other highly-rated image viewers but I always come back to FastStone. FastStone's website has other software available as well that one may be interested in. The viewer is FREE for home or personal use. I highly recommend trying this excellent program from this reputable supplier. I have used this happily for so many years, I even made a small donation last year, and now have a registered copy.

I've seen faststone before though I never had the change to use it. I check the site and its great, support a lot of image format, built-in editor, skinable and a lot more. Another free viewer that is tested, stable and fast, thanks for sharing this Dartman and welcome to myLot.
