I have been collecting old coins and bills as well as foriegn currency for many years. Amoung them are coins from Australia, England, Austri and others. Paper money from Poland, Iran, Iraq as well as a lot of other places. My wife and I also save all gold and silver certificate bills we can find. She gets a lot as tips. I can not believe people do not save these. They are worth a bit of money if in good shape etc. Well this one posted here is really ragged. But it is the oldest I have ever seen as far as American Bills. It is dated 1928 and is a silver certificate as well. I have no idea it's worth but this as well as most others will be our daughters in time anyhow. The back side is odd looking. I had never seen a bill this old in my life. My wife got this as a tip Tuesday at work. Do you have any really old bills or currency from anyehere at all in the world?

They no longer accept them for trade to silver or gold. I think this was done to ease the use of money instead of coinage and currency at first. pLUS THE GOVERNMENT HAD AN ABUNDENT SUPPLY OF GOLD AND SILVER THOSE DAYS.

Read again. I said SILVER CERTIFICATE. Back in those years up until the 50s the US printed gold and silver certificates. One could take this to a stock broker or banker and trade it for gold or silver.

We have some, but not that old GrandPa..
My father's work is related to traveling around the world (in a way), he's a sailor and they always get to go to places and other countries. He does collect some bills and coins, from where he's been to. From US, Australian, European, Asian and many more. We get to keep one bill from one country, then put it in our collectible items.

I've gotten some of these copins etc from my wifes tips as well as her boss. Some from mom before she passed as well. I love seeing odd looking money from all over the worls. This bill is worth anywhere from $35 to $200 to a collector right now.

That's quite a pretty good amount, I'm not sure yet how much would cost the coins and bills we have here for I may still have to wait for some time to check it's worth.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful collections GrandPa, hope you have a great day!

Hi GRANDPA BOB! My husband has a small collection of coins and paper bills. I think the oldest is in the early nineteen hundreds. I saw a Morgan Dollar in his collection too. I really don't have any idea of how much value his collection is. He collects toys too. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

I have a few coins from the late 1800's saved. There are a couple that are in great shape as well. One is a Liberty Dollar and you can see the details very well on the engraving. Those have to worth a pretty penny I am sure. All these years and I seldom check what they are worth as I know they're going to the kids/grandsons when I am gone.

I have a silver certificate. I can't remember what the year is though. I have it stashed away for safe keeping. Now that you have mentioned having one it makes me wonder what year it actually is. Have to go and check now.

no I don't have any, I have never been much of a collector of anything but I do wish that one day I could be. Oh I forgot I just to have hundreds of paypals around the world and I collected writing paper. I have no idea what happened to the collection, I think it got lost in a move at some point.

I have bout $20 in gold coins but not sure if they are solid gold or what or of their worth other than face value. A customer of mine gives them out to me every Christmas. Hopefully, some of your bills/coins are really worth something.

mmmmm....wouldn't get all excited about thinking you have a potential milestone and can make oodles of money from old coins or other money...Found this website about silver certificates
..."Since silver certificates are not made anymore, some of them have a premium value to collectors and dealers. For example, if your $1 silver certificate has the date 1928, it is worth about $10 to $12. If it is 1928 with the letter "C" after the date, it is worth about $50. With the series date 1928D, about $20, and with the series date 1928E about $150. Most of the 1934 and 1935 series $1 silver certificates are only worth face value, but can bring a small premium if they are in new condition...."

I have some old coins dating in the early to mid 1800s...I thought oh, wow I'm sitting on a fortune here...uh, nope...started looking around and not worth as much as I thought...but do have a 1880 Morgan Silver dollar...I seen some places selling it for near $400...but that's the SELLING price...as for how much I'd be offered??
Mmmm...might start hunting around again

This stamped 1928A. Thanks for the link. I'll have to search for the value of 1928A ones. Coins are worth a lot if you're willing to sit on them until the right collector offers a great price. This is what I learned from buying a lot of old coins at auctions.

I have paper money and coins from many different countries. My husband brings me money from every country he deploys to. My mom has a collection of old coins and dollars too.
My ex-husband has a dollar that is orange on one side. I can't remember if it is the front or back. I will have to take a picture of it when I go back there this summer. He has had it since he was a small boy.
