That's what I was thinking exactly. If you really want it, go to the first page of this discussion and check Ferdz response on number 7 and you might be lucky to activate voice recognition in your pc.

I have heard of this feature as well but it is not that accurate and satisfying as typing yourself and the time taken to correct the wrong; by the time you would have wasted a bit of a precious time already. I recommend you sticking to the traditional typing, sweetie. It is more faster this way and time efficient.

Well, for now the technoloy is still not that sophisticated yet. Since only a few people use it there is no pressure for Microsoft to develop or improve it. But I hope they will soon.

I don't know if I would really use that if such feature becomes widely available. I kinda like being silent and having things to do with my hand.

I also have that kind of idea, because sometimes my hand get tired of typing and how i wish i have a microphone and i will just dictate what words i wanted my compute to type. You know it is possible since some people created a robot and cellphone with television, why not this?

If you're using XP then you can activate your voice recognition. It's discussed in the first page how to activate it. Please refer to it.

there are many text to speech program in the net, but it needs adaptation with your voice, like microsoft product. if you know about programming maybe you can use microsoft sdk to modify their product or made your own.

The voice adaptation in microsoft is killing me. It requires you to speak in a low tone and it's difficult to adjust your voice to it. I wish we could have something more sophisticated like allowing us to speak naturally.

I've seen this in a movie and so I thought I would love to have that software or feature in my computer. Anything is becoming possible now with the increased knowlege. It will be available in the market sooner or later..I hope.

yes they do have programs for that, bind people for example use them but you have use words that exist in their databank, not stuff like lol, or different slang words.

They have it in MS XP but you have to activate it it's already installed in your PC. Unfortunately, I don't think it's installed in my PC right now.

There are talk / text programs, my last computer came with the software already installed but it was never accurate. I spent more time proof reading and changing incorrect words than actually reading the text. It might sound like a great idea if you can get it to recognize your voice and do an accurate transcription but it is time consuming to proof read, add HTML etc.

I see. Thanks for showing the other side of it. I guess I'll have to be happy typing for now.

it would be a lot faster, easier and comfortble typing it in. just imagie if stat blabbering and you want to edit your words then you will have ot memorize a lot of commands and all just to edit a word , what if it was a phrase. so you have to keep track of it's position. i do not think it would work. the computer still does not have the complexity of the human brain.have a nice day! nice one.

Thanks for presenting the cons. It was well-thought of. I think that as you dictate you can edit right away. But oh well, I think you're right.

I've thought about this too a year or two ago. I'm sure it would be simple enough to do, to convert voice to whatever...lol. I'll bet it's in the pipeline already and not too far off.

Well, actually Microsoft XP comes with these voice to text feature. Just can't activate it for now. It's still a complex process.

OH! What an interesting wishful thinking. I also wish like you that I could just dictate and my computer could type my spoken words. How easy and fast it would be, once the computer starts taking dictation from us....LOL! But till such time, it happens, we will have to make do with the current arrangements, we will have to think the responses and would need to type those with our own hands.

I'm sure with the type of technology we have now, this is not impossible anymore. It might be a little complicated by now but overtime it will be improved. Meanwhile, I'll just have to use my hands.

you are not only a hardworker but also a dreamer. LOL. the technology is always updating. Innovation is very common. all discovery now we think it the past as impossible but now we own one of it. We don't know yet if you wish will be granted. Hopefully it will.

Well, with the fast-pacing advancement of technology nowadays, is it still far-fetched? I don't think so. I know the technology is already present but it's still not available to the masses, only with special needs.

@Jemina (5770)

I don't remember saying it's not possible. I was asking if it is possible to use on myLot. I know they Microsoft has this one but I don't know if we can use it here on myLot.

Actually it's already available on MS XP. Go down to number 7 on this page and look for FerdzNk. He mentioned how you will activate your Voice to Text feature in your computer.

Yes, the Microsoft version is complicated but not sophisticated. It uses American English of course and you have to maintain a low voice which makes it very complicated. Well, many internet users around the globe haven't really discovered the advantanges of this feature but I hope Microsoft will introduce it to the public and make people aware. And yes, offer it free.

Yea but then I wouldn't have to pay one if my computer can do it for me.
