I'm watching Dr. Phil and there is a woman on the show today that hoards things. She has 2 houses full of crap. She has 7 fridges and freezers full of rotting food. 7 cats with full litter boxes and stuff all over the floor so when they can't use their litter box they go on the floor. She has kids, the 2 youngest have to share the couch to sleep on because she has their room full of crap. The other daughter doesn't like to sleep in her room because the cats go to the bathroom in her room. She drinks beer to take the edge off and drinks and drives with her kids pretty much everyday. She has also told her kids she'll put them in foster care. I can't believe this woman. She has had a hard life but lots of people have a hard life and don't deal with things this way. I think this is child abuse, children should not have to live in such chaos. Did anybody else see it? What are your thoughts?

I think in a way that could be considered child abuse, but mostly I think that would be considered neglect cause if she doesnt take care of the house, and she doesnt change the litter boxes, and she has so much crap that they have to sleep on a couch, and especially if she drinks and drives, because if she does all that then she probabily doesnt take care of her kids, and they are probabily suffer from malnutrition, I dont care how hard your life is,you shouldnt deal with things that way,I didnt see that episode, but it sounds like it can teach you a lesson, and I would seriously hope that social services would take her kids away, and put them with a family who would take care of them, atleast until she straigtens up her act.

This may not fit under abuse but it is child neglect for sure and that is just as bad those poor poor kids. Someone needs to step in and save these kids before its too late. I mean drinking and driving is bad enough but with your kids in the car does this woman have no morals at all.

I don't think I saw this particular one although I do tivo Dr. Phil. It sounds like she has something going on, she is a packrat as well as having some type of disorder that prevents her from seeing how her behavior is hurtful to her kids - and herself. Children deserve not only food and shelter, but a certain degree of cleanliness, safety, etc. Drinking and driving with minors in your car carries additional penalties I think than just being caught driving under the influence yourself.
This is neglect and abuse, but this lady may not have enough cards together to realize it.

That is child abuse. The rotting food could make those kids really sick, not to mention I think they did a follow up or something and the house was invested with mold which can be deadly if breathed in for a long time.
