Another Trip Into The Past...

I've decided to treat myself to a trip to Michelham Priory tomorrow. The Priory is in the village of Upper Dicker, deep in the heart of the East Sussex countryside. It boasts England’s longest medieval water-filled moat, surrounding the Priory's 800 years of history.
Also there are a working Forge, The Rope Museum, The Elizabethan Great Barn, The Iron Age Centre, a Watermill, spacious gardens including a Herb Garden which is planted with medieval herbs, and of course, the Manor House and Priory itself.
The Priory was founded and was lived in by Augustinian canons until the Dissolution in 1537. After this time, the Church of the Holy Trinity was destroyed and the house underwent various transformations including the addition of an extensive Tudor wing. Also, over the years there have been many reported sightings of unexplained phenomena at Michelham Priory it has the reputation of being one of the most haunted buildings in East Sussex.
I'm really looking forward to visiting Michelham Priory and will give you all a run-down on my day tomorrow, when I return home... with pictures!

I have already given an account of my visit, my friend, in a later discussion. I'm sorry, I can't put the link in here because that's soliciting you to read it, and against guidelines, but I'm sure you can find it. I had a wonderful day.
Thank you for your contribution and Brightest Blessings, my friend. x

Yes... I don't know what's come over me lately, but I have been a bit lost in certain areas, and in need of finding a missing link... I guess that's the root of it. I did have a lovely day, and will post as soon as I've uploaded my photos.
Brightest Blessings, love and hugs. xxx

Hi Darkwing! It is really so nice having been able to treat yourself on those kind of trips. It is really amazing to have all those old structures and places where you can see the past. How enriching that will be. I do regret that I have never seen those places, maybe in time I will. Have a safe trip and I hope to see all those pictures you have taken on your trip. Just my thoughts dear friend. Take care and have a nice day!

I hope you will get to see them, or something similar in your lifetime, my dear friend. There are no words to describe the peace of mind and historical energies which can be drawn from them.
I have to upload my pics first, and then will tell you about my day, in a new discussion. Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution, my dear friend. xxx

Aaaahhhh, it is discourses like this that make me love my home country and make me miss it so much. I do love the rolling hills, the history, the beautiful countryside, the wildness of it all, the birds and the wonderful little villages. And then I remember what it has become and I become disillusioned again.
I used to love London and all its history. There is so much of it there but it is hard to find people who really care about our old traditions, the reasons why we say the things we say or do the things we do. Our nursery rhymes, we can't sing them any more; like being told that schools can't show nativity plays because it offends certain minorities. Oh heck, I feel another rant coming on, I'd better stop here!
I am so glad that you are going off to this beautiful place so full of wonder and memories, you can almost feel the spirits walking around in harmony... yes, please lots of photos needed, I'm feeling a little homesick!
Thanks for sharing this with us Darkwing. :)

I'm sure the love of your roots will remain instilled within your soul throughout life, my dear friend. Yes, we have all these problems with the minorities, but it's our own government's fault. If they had listened to dear Enoch all those years ago, we wouldn't be in this state now. My granddaughter's school has made a compromise regarding nativity. They still have it, but just a brief act at the end of the Christmas plays. They get over this by including a lot of short scenes involving Christmas traditions, and involving kids of all cultures. It seems to work well, but we have to keep a tight reign on these things or we will lose all.
It is a lovely place, my friend. Very peaceful and traditional. When I've uploaded my pics, I will tell you all about my day. Brightest Blessings. xxx

The weather looks promising, and anyway, there's plenty indoors there, where I can pop into during showers.
I'm looking forward to it, my friend. I need to get out of the house a bit and occupy myself with something interesting, at the moment.
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your contribution. Love and hugs. xxx

I'm lucky my friend, that I live in a part of England where there's a whole lot of history and ancient lore. I hope you manage to get here some day, as I don't think you'd be disappointed. I will be sure and take lots of pictures too.
Brightest Blessings, and thank you for your input.
