False lashes

My mother-in-law recently got some of those semi-permanent upper and lower lashes, and they look so GOOD! I'd like to try them, but they're WAY expensive (like $250 to start, then $80 every 2 weeks for fills!) Since I can't afford to get the deluxo ones, I'm wondering if false lashes from any drugstore would look as good? If you've used false lashes, can you recommend a particular brand, style, and adhesive for me? Also, what tips do I need to know about putting them on, taking them off, re-using them, etc? THANKS!
