a few years ago I had a friend who started making and taking kombucha tea. He spoke of its mushroom and the process of fermenting the tea. It really became an obsession for him, and I think it changed his personality a bit. Anyhow, the health benefits sound remarkable - but the thought of it leaves me gagging. have you ever had kombucha tea? did you make it yourself? how does it taste? if you have not had it, does the idea interest you? this looks like a pretty good website for information on it. http://www.seedsofhealth.co.uk/fermenting/kombucha.shtml

I drank Kombucha for a couple of months and didn't notice any difference. It was around the time my knees were starting to deteriorate and I'm wondering if the tea didn't exacerbate the situation. My Mum drank it for a while too but didn't keep it up. I heard people raving about it. I'd give it another go. It was quite pleasant. Tastes like sweet tea as I would sweeten mine. It was fascinating watching the thing grow. I'll check the website later...thanks for the link.

It's not the mushroom that gets eaten, it's the tea that the mushroom and warm water produces that you drink.

It can be made from a variety of teas - the tea and some sugar is allowed to ferment... it forms a sheet which is called the mushroom, which acts like a starter for more kumbucha I guess. to me the mushroom is like a fungus and that is why it is called mushroom??? but it just makes me think of mold scum and I am afraid to try it. the website above gives information on the tea.

You know I have never ever heard of kombucha tea before and I am not sure I would like it at all! I see that there has been very little research on the actual benefits and if I seen a bit more scientific research I may actually try it! xxx

I am curious about it, but as of yet not curious enough to try it myself! lol. I agree, give me more concrete data on it.
