Cheeto Cake

It is 3 am and I am sitting here at the computer typing with orange stained fingers from the gel food coloring.
Tomorrow (well, technically today) is my daughter's second birthday. I just finished frosting her cake. I made it into the shape of a big puffy cheeto; her favorite food group! She would eat these things all day every day if we would let her! Don't worry we don't!
She flips out of we are at the store and she sees the Cheeto display. And she is not placated by just holding the bag. She thinks she must indulge herself with them right at that very moment! She passes the bag back and forth between me and my husband, pleading with us in her baby fashion to open it up for her.
I could have made a cartoon character or something else but really, I couldn't think of anything more fitting for her than a cheeto!Building a cheeto out of cake was much more work than I imagined; hence the time.. I just finished! The funny thing is; she won't even remember this birthday. She is only 2 years old! As I sit here tired and orange I am just hoping that when she grows up she can appreciate it through pictures!
Did you parents do anything special for you when you were little on your birthday that you only know about through stories or pictures?
Or, have you done anything silly for your children knowing that they won't even remember it?

Although she probably won't remember it, you'll have the photos to show her when she's bigger and I bet she'll have a good laugh about the Cheeto cake! It sounds absolutely fabulous, and you're a Mum in a million to be sitting up ising it at 3am.
I think the cake I remember best from my childhood was a huge slab of sticky gingercread 'iced' with melted chocolate! It was everything I'd ever dreamed of in a cake :-)
I hope your daughter has a wonderful birthday and enjoys her giant Cheeto. Give her a big birthday kiss from me xx

Thanks! She did love her birthday cake and her gifts as well. We took lots of pictures to show her when she is older.
I don't think I have ever tasted a gingerbread cake..I'll have to look for that one!

You did tell me about this one. I know your daughter will love this and hopefully it'll carry throughout her life (the memory of course).
I can't recall anything with younger birthdays, but my parents did do plenty for other days.

Yep, I told you about this right before I made the cake I think.
I am attaching a pic of her little cake face.
