Life is Too Short for Best Knickers

I am a demon for buying fancy knickers. I love 'em. The frillier, the more frivolous, the brighter and more outrageous the better. My favourite pair are a hot pink and black slightly furry feel zebra print thong, with a hot pink fur trim :-) Honestly! But ... and here's the less exciting bit ... I *never* wear them!! I put them away in a drawer, and I save them for *best*. Day to day, I wear the same old comfy ones. I won't frighten you with a description of those. Of course, best never comes and these gorgeous traffic stopping knickers never see the outside of the drawer apart from when I take them out to admire them. If I carry on like this, but the time I'm an old lady I'll be able to make my fortune opening an undies museum. But I digress ... We had a guest to stay recently, and she was appalled by my sad knickers hanging on the line when all these stunning bits of froth were tucked away unseen. She said (you've guessed it) LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR BEST KNICKERS. It stuck with me. I've been mulling it over ever since. So, what do you reckon? Is life really too short for best knickers, or is keeping them for best a sensible decision? I'd love to know I'm not alone, but if you think I'm barmy please feel free to say so!!

I think you may have just found the title to the next Bestseller! Just think how inspirational that could be to millions of people. Before you know it the whole civilized world will be walking around with silly grins on our faces because we will all know about the hot pink zebra striped, orange fur trimmed, purple satin secrets wwe all have hidden under our otherwise ordinary clothes....hey, the sequel can be "Life is Too Short for Plain White Socks".

Dear Green Moo.....( I really just love that....that's spectacular ) Have you been reading my Mind again????? I swear....I think we have a symbiotic-Relationship. I can't go for the Outrageous stuff. ( I'm too Chicken ) But I love the white-lacey stuff with Ruffles and Pink-bows. ( again....much too chicken to wear them ) Butb I figure By the time I'm done Banging my head against the wall ( ooohhh look at all o' the pretty stars ) I should have Knocked enough shyness out of me to give those Beautiful Undergarments a whirl. Hey do you know where your Cell-phone is right now ? I know where Mine is Unfortunately....the queen tends to Lose hers frequently , while I'm ( Ummmmm) on the throne ( in busy meetings you understand ) Oh Crap....it's not my Phone !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ( oh....that's just wrong....! where the he!! are my Da*& glasses???!!! )

A kindred spirit. Wahey! :-) Ruffles? Bows? Sound like my sorta thing. But I can't understand why you would be too chicken to actually wear them! Now I agree that I'm a bit weird in that I don't wear mine. But it's because I don't want to ruin them rather than because I don't want to wear them. After all, who's going to see these fancy, frothy fripperies unless you choose to show them off? Unless you go for the Superman look of course and wear them on the outside ....

I never thought of that One , But do you honestly think that any one would take a Super-hero which wears a Bag ( on her head ) , Purple Slippers , and white ruffl( ie ? ) underwear over her Costume ......Seriously? Hey.....the world is constantly evolving maybe.....I should give it a try.

YIKES! They sound horribly uncomfortable! I wouldn't even look twice at them, much less BUY them! And I try to never buy anything I won't wear. So, one night, dress up in them - along with a matching bra and put on a sexy dress then do a strip for your husband - after a nice intimite meal and stuff, then see things heat up!

Perhaps this is why they sit in the drawer and I wear old and comfy instead?! Mr Moo if forever on at me to wear them actually. Maybe I shall frighten him and do so one day :-)

I'm sorry to take so long to come back to you Ruby. I took your advice and I've been ...erm ...somewhat busy ;-) I love the sound of your shocking pink ones. At the very least you ought to hang them on the washing line when the vicar comes to tea! I used to have a couple of lovely basques I used to wear under lacy shirts. I wonder what happened to them? I haven't seen them for years.

My older sister used to keep all of her new towels packed away in a drawer to be used at a time when "she would need her best towels put out".. Well the time neve came and she passed away, her kids had to throw away the old yellowed towels that had been packed away so many years, being saved by her so she could find the right time to use them.. Get the lead out of your knickers and use them, life is way too short and we aren't promised a tomorrow to wear our best knickers.. I believe that I would find somewhere to wear them to today!! good luck to you and your best knickers..
