Dowry was a common practice in India- some 20-30 years back but It is a crime now and people taking it can be punished under the Indian law but the truth is It still is in practice in India. The system blames it on illiteracy and points it out to be the main cause of it not being uprooted form the root But even the literate and high class people don't abstain form this practice .Just a month back my cousin sister got married and i was shocked that the groom demanded a sum of 18 lakhs and he says he loves her. I was baffled for he is an educated person and from i good high class family ,but still doid not abstain from asking for the dowry

Yes I agree with you , they are few people in our society who demands dowry , we should complain about them in police station and they should get punished , but people are encouraging others who demands dowry they give dowry just bec they are giving their daughters , I feel the person who takes dowry buys his wife and it is not a true love , their life can not be happy , after giving that much amount, what is the gurantee that the life will be happy? nothing so every should be educated about dowry and we have to remove that system completely from our country ...

truly how can someone be happy with such a person for once he is bored he will go to some other stop and find something new. How will people understand that just dowry doesnot ensure his daughter's happiness.

I completely agree with you but I think this will continue for ever in India, it is just that people has to change and think about the dowry system , Goverment should strictly remove that and bring out some policy.... only then some change might occur otherwise this continues for ever
