Where have you been for work experience? How was it?

From tomorrow I'm at the UK clothes store Peacocks for 2 weeks. It was a last minute choice as I was unable to get to the places I wanted to in the time limit due to security reasons and there basically being no places. I have to work 9am - 5pm and will not be paid, which is quite annoying. I'm being told we are probably going to be treated like slaves. What is annoying is a friend of mine got a place in a nursery and only has to work the hours 9am - 12pm. I'm slightly worried about going on the first day but it should be fine!

Working in a nursery would probably be cool, but who knows if you would ever use that experience. Sounds like what you are going to be doing will be worthwhile and get you used to the normal work day. I hope it is a good experience for you!

Thank you! Yes, it should get me used to it. My mum said it would be a good way of perhaps getting offered a weekend job there later.

why do you have to work for eight hours and not getting paid? is that your practicum? well anyway, back in college, i used to do on the job trainings for a psychiatric ward. we used to conduct and facilitate programs and activities for us to measure the patients cognition and social skills. we're not paid of course but we're graded and that would be a part of my transcript of records. after i graduated, i didn't pursue taking up masters anymore since i wanted to earn money to help my parents. I worked for a contact center for a year and a half and now I moved to a multinational oil company as an HR analyst. right now, gain experience first and be good at it. by next time, you can get a high paying job that you wanted. be patient, you'll get your time someday. :)
