I was in music class in 2nd grade and loved music. I started playing piano at grade 3 and got my first upright piano at grade 4. That's how I got interested in learning more about music. I started playing clarinet in 5th grade and it just grew from there. I was playing different instrument throughout highschool because they came so easy to me. Anyways, I went on to major in Music Therapy the first year I was in college. There was only one college in Tennessee that offered it and they were closing the program out in 2005. They just didn't have enough people graduating from it for it to be useful to keep the program. Anyways, the program requires a combination of education courses and music courses. What was so interesting is that you would hear of the affects that the second semester students had on her therapy children that she was working with. They would use music therapy with Autism patients to learn hand eye cordination. They would also use with ADD and ADHD and OCD patients for attention deficent problems. Repetition is used a lot. This kind of therapy is used with musical instruments or singing or being on the computer playing music and being in a group session talking about what they are feeling while they are doing the task. Then they try to get them to open up more as the session continues with the group or personalized therapy.I only wish people could see the benefit that music has on young children because maybe they wouldn't be apt to pull it out of the schools as fast as they are pulling it out.

I have been a fan of music ever since. I'm the music lover of the family, and my brothers too. Music is one of my outlet once I feel sad or upset and in need of something to lift me up. I'm not the type who shares my problem or what's been happening inside me, I tend to just help myself get over with something or mend myself alone. I take music as my first choice to just move on and take a new step leaving some problems behind.
