so I started this new job selling cemetery property. I have never been in sales before so this is pretty new for me. At first we were updating the files of people who already owned spaces but needed other things required by the cemetery. I had about 4 or 5 sales from that. Now we are moving onto the people who don't own anything and it is getting harder to do. We are doing these survey's over the phone and trying to get into people's homes that way by giving them a free gift. We have this whole presentation to do and I am just freaking out about it. The pressure is really on from the owners to be seliing new property and I am just getting a little nervous. Any suggestions or advice?

worst thing about a sales postion is seperating yourself from your job. I have been in sales for a long time and you see a large variety of people. But ultimately you are selling something that they will eventually need. And that is what you must focus on. Now I know that is far from comforting, but unfortunatly you can not look at it from the eyes of compassion. You must approach it like business treat your custmers sweet, give them the service that they need and when your day is over leave all of it in your car. Best of luck to you.

The secret with working in sales is persistence and having the ability to bounce back from rejection. You have to somehow stay optimistic about life even when you've had the door slammed into your face and people are downright rude and nasty to you. However, you'll find the rewards of a sales job good if you develop the necessary qualities to succeed. I think working in sales is good training for people, whether they succeed at the sales job. The ability to sell is one of the most important qualities we need in life. Just about everything we do will involve selling of something or another. Somehow, we forget the value of selling as we get older and so when we work in sales jobs we become a little disorientated with the sales process.
