Would you mark someone negative and why?

I am hoping that this discussion doesn't get a negative mark for me, but I was just wondering in what cases would you mark someone negative?
I think I have only done this one time and that was because someone made some very, very s3xual comments and tried to start a discussion of s3x through one of my discussions.
In MY own opinion, this was not needed and was not even NEAR what was being talked about.
I do not give negatives because it might be something negative becasue everyone is intitled to thier own opinion, that is what makes the world what it is and no one is ever going to agree fully with what you are saying or thinking.
I use the negative marks just if it is REALLY, REALLY bad.
So how do you use this myLot tool?

i have just joined up now and wasnt knowing about this tool until i read ur discussion post.......
first of all thankx and yes i dont think i will ever find any need of using that feature.....

My only reason for marking someone down would be if they're abusing someone in a debate. Disagreement's fine but personal attacks aren't.

As of today I never gave anyone negative remarks. I don't mind if the topic I started might cause disagreement with other people's point of view because I never directed my topics to anyone or anything specific. It is as open as open forum implies and people are expected to keep an open mind. I think I would only give negative remark when a rude or unwarranted comment was made directly to me.

the only time i would give a negative mark is if someone was really out of line and deserved it...otherwise it would likely be a positive mark. and this is the first time that i have seen this addressed and it makes me wonder...what it the point of positive of negative points? does it have a bearing on our earnings or position or something?

I'm new to myLot and I was also interested in knowing how easy it is to be given a negative rating. I would never rate anyone negatively simply because I disagree with their opinion...I expect to read varying points of view, some of which I will agree with and some that I will not, that is what makes a great discussion! For me to give a user a negative rating they would have to have written something extremely offensive or inappropriate. Unless it is intentionally cruel or insulting, everyone is entitled to their own beliefs!

Nope, I've never marked a response as negative because as someone stated earlier, all humans are entitled to their opinion. But i suspect that lately i've been getting negatived...is there any way to find that out?
Reason might be that i take part in discussions on religion and God and am more often than not the only idiot who questions the existence of God and the relevance of religion in these modern times of free thought. My reputation has declined from 8 to 7 after such discussions , am i paranoid or is there something to this, i wonder..

I never mark anyone negative.I think we all are here to exchange our thoughts and earn some bucks.If someone does not agree with my viewpoint ,its his or her choice and I have no reason to mark that persons discussion or response as negative because this might affect the rating and maybe, his/her earnings too.So this is why I don't mark anyone negative.But mylot users must practice restraints in unnecassarily bringing out sensitive issues and derogatory personal remarks.we all are a family here and must exercise patience and respect for each other. @us2owls (1681)

I never mark anyone negative. If I don't care for what they have posted, I just don't rate it. But if I like what has been posted, I always give a positive rating. I can't see giving anyone a negative because everyone has the right to voice their opinion and just because I don't agree with it doesn't mean it isn't right.

That's impossible. I think this is a bad behavior. Some time ago there is a discussion, and the Mylotter asked for others to rate his/her discussion negative. I didn't do it at all. I rate everybody's post positive. I can't see any reasons to rate them negative. I even rate different opinions positive, including some a bit offensive posts, too. As to the insulting posts, I will just leave them alone and don't rate them at all.

you are right.. and to answer your question, i use this myLot tool in sharing and proclaiming the gospel of Christ.. this is my one way of opening a topic to spiritual things. because nowadays, people are not that interested anymore in spiritual matters, when i do believe that we should be keeping in our hearts spiritual matters serious...

Hi Kaysue4, I mark everyone with a positive that has taken the time to respond to any of my discussions and also to the poster of any discussion I answer as they have taken to the to respond even if opinion is different. If someone is slightly abusive I will just not mark at all but I have on one occasion marked a negative on a friends discussion as this person was very verbally abusive about my friends daughter and there was absolutely no need for this and I was hurting for my friend. the response was really really insulting and rude.Ijust'
do not like to negate anyone just because I do not agree
with them, thats not playing fair in my books.I hope that
others will think the same when they respond to me.

I will never give a negative mark to someone whos opnion diffres from mine. The only time I would give a negative mark is if someone is slandering another member and it is not necessary to slander or bash another mylot member. We are all entitled to have our oen opnions and beliefs and just because someone dosnt agree with your ways dosnt make it right to give them a negative mark. I give positive marks to every discussion I personally respond to for the simple reason that...that is my way of letting the person know that I cared enough to give them my honest and open opnion on there topic.

I have never rated anyone with negative here in myLOt. I always give positive rating. If ever I dont like the response or the topic coz its just a one-liner or out of context, I just leave it at that, but never give a negative rating. Everyone has his/her own point of view whether it is not in agreement with others opinion, and I think this is the essence of myLot discussion, to have different ideas and opinions to be shared with others.

I would only use the negative mark feature if someone said something really bad. I have, to this date, never used the negative marks feature.
