Sparks Day At The Races

Today I watched the Preakness - the second jewel in the Triple Crown Thoroughbred Horse Racing which began two weeks ago with the Kentucky Derby. Of course, my horse (Big Brown) won. But that's not what I want to talk about. The Kentucky Derby is also known for it's Hat Parade. They are astoundingly huge, feathery and OBVIOUS! LOL This link will give you some great pictures of them: http://www.horse-races.net/library/derby05-hats.htm At today's race the ladies were decked out in their finest once again in summer dresses and HUGE hats. Lovely. During an interview I grew bored with the blah, blah, blah and began checking out the background of the shot. And what do I see, but a vision of beauty and grace and HAT, that so captured my attention I couldn't take my eyes off HER - the woman of my dreams, my projected self as I imagine myself to be, my soul mate, my.....well you get the picture. This vision of vanilla and lemon souffle had smooth honey coloured skin - so lightly kissed by the sun, carmen red lips - luscious, a pale yellow spagetti strapped, Chinese silk dress cinched at the waist and rouched over the generous bust - so enticingly dipped at the cleft of the cleavage, and the hat - oh my, the hat!Tightly woven creamy rattan with an 18 inch brim saucily slanted over one eye and drooping lazily in the front. The crown was a burst of camillia's and roses and under the brim, another huge silk rose peeked cheerfully around HER shell like ear. And that's when it really hit me. I was looking at my vision, my imagining, my dream, of our very own Nova, dressed to the nines, with class and culture and sexuality and cheekiness and the pure warmth that only a real Southern Belle can carry off in style! My favorite horse in the Derby two weeks ago was a filly named Eight Belles. Tragically she gave her life that day. Today, she was represented by a Southern Belle of our very own, even if only in my imagination......

Nova loves her swirls and curls and I can see her in that dress. Her ruby lips are definitely enhanced by a touch of red, just a touch mind. I know that she was watching the Preakness too, although I hadn't realised that she was there. No wonder the webcam link dropped. Nova in a hat though. That conjures such lustful images. With Nova on your arm there would be a duo of beauties catching eyes wherever they went. The racing would be abandoned I fear in favour of drinking in the delights of our own two favourite fillies taking a turn around the paddock. Hospitality tents would empty, and bookies would go bust, as those striking thoroughbreds showed their mettle. Entirely delicious.

I gotta tell you P1ke, when I saw that Georgia peach in the background I nearly fell over! I really couldn't take my eyes off her. I studied everything about her so I could write about it. It was quite an experience - almost as good as the race itself! ROFL

No way I can do that, Spark, no freaking way. How in the world could I live up to THAT? But I'm still gonna end up posting my picture for y'all, if just to give you the truth of it all - just the plain ol' me, middle-aged, short, too well rounded and not near that special. But what you'll see for sure, no matter what picture I might post, is the love I have for all of you -you'll see it in my eyes and in my smile, that I know. And that's what I want you to see, more than anything, 'cause it's there, in spades. Honestly, Spark, I feel like I've just been bathed in a golden, magical light or something, with the words you've put here about me. And you know me, so you know that what I'm feeling here is something palpable, physical, real. Wow. What I did to deserve this, I'll never know.

Oh wow I was just thinking that the beauty you described fitted very nicely with my image of you but then you and Nova are both such marvellous women that I guess it could be either of you! Wish I was a southern belle with a slow soft drawl! Thanks for the beautiful description spark - I really have got a picture of her in my mind now! xxx

Spark, I honestly think that you and Nova can make a great career out of writing. And, while I am exercising restraint as to not go into silky details, believe it or not, halfway through your second paragraph, I was already positive that you are talking about our friend, nova!:-)

Kamran, that is THE best compliment! You have made me very happy! - That you suspected it was Nova, although I do appreciate you liking my writing too! LOL

Spark, you both have your own ways with words, and I am not skilled enough to aptly describe how do I differentiate one from the other. As for being positive about this being for nova from your second paragraph...well, to be honest, following line was enough for me: "the woman of my dreams, my projected self as I imagine myself to be, my soul mate, my.....well you get the picture." And I got the picture! Though I still considered a little possibility that I could be wrong. First part of this line has been said about nova by you somewhere, I don't know where though, maybe in my dream, LOL!

Nova has referred to me several times, and I to her, as the two of us being the same side of the same coin - we could have been twins in that are so much alike, and our lives have paralled each other and yet we didn't meet until we found this site. It's quite a connection we have, so those lines were actually me writing about me, and suddenly realizing it wasn't the me,me, but the nova me, if you know what I mean. LOL You are very astute Kamran!

My stars, Spark! I feel like I've just gotten a standing ovation at the Metropolitan Opera! Never have I had such beautiful things said about me - and by so many wonderful people who I love and admire. I'm completely taken aback. I've NEVER been more flattered. And I thank you from the bottom of my soul, my sweet sistertwin. But how am I ever going to live up to that???? My god, I'm only me. I'm not near so beautiful as you all make me out to be. Maybe if I were Greta Garbo or Catherine Deneuve, but geez, guys. I do love to dress like that though, that's true. And when I married Stu, my darling LAST husband, I wore a beautiful, wide brimmed, ultra femme, ivoryish colored hat. My dress was cotton muslin with the most incredible golden brocade in a deep V going down the bodice, and had hand done lace literally dripping from the hem. Very non-traditonal, but it WAS me, after all. Listen, I don't know that I'll ever be able to post my picture now, I swear. I'm so afraid that I'll disappoint all of you. P1ke's seen me, of course, you know that, and he'll tell you I'm beautiful, but he loves me, so he's gonna say that anyway. I'm just so deeply touched by this, and I started crying in the first paragraph, no surprise to you, Spark. I love you too, baby. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

Yes, I have lots of pictures of me in that dress on that day. One day, maybe soon, I'll send you one. Hey, maybe along with the bullet! What a combo! But seriously, you leave me wordless. And your gift for writing, Spark, god, like I've said before, between you and p1ke, wow. I'm going to print this out, Spark. I can't at home here, no printer, but I'll do it when I'm at work this Friday. How could I not keep a copy of this? I think I should have it read at my wake. It makes me feel like I've just won the Nobel Peace Prize or something, honestly, Spark. Is there somewhere I could take a bow?

Do you still have a picture of you in that dress -with or without Stu? I'd love to see it. Nova - it is the beauty within you that makes you beautiful without whether you realize that or not when you look in the mirror. We have come to know and love the beauty within - therefore the without is going to be beautiful to us regardless. Just make sure you're hair is clean and your lips are ruby red! LOL Watching this interview and fixating on the backgroud was like an out of body experience for me nova. Firt it was my ideal ME and then I realized it was my ideal YOU. I wish you'd been with me. We would have turned to each other with the same thought in mind, just reversed. I made mint julips after that interview, and then wrote this. I couldn't not write it. I wanted to share the moment with you and everyone else who loves you.

So, Edgy hasn't told you that I don't take compliments well? lol That WAS very eloquent and well versed. I don't really know Nova yet, but I have heard that she is wonderful. She will be honored by your prose.

I have never been to a real horse race, but oh I would love to go to the Kentucky Derby just once in my life. I have seen movies and such with the ladies wearing all the beautiful hats. I am a Southern Belle, NC born and bred, and my soul longs for olden times, (sometimes), LOL. I think though that you lost me in this discussion, "Our very own Nova", is this a real person, or one of the horses? Don't laugh, I can be very naive sometimes.

Oh thanks so much Sparks, we Southern Belles do have a way about about us, found no where else in the world, sometimes that's a good thing, but sometimes not so good, LOL. Thanks for telling me about Ms Nova, and I will get to know her, hopefully. I really like it here at My Lot, and I am meeting many interesting, and nice people.

I'm not laughing - you are fairly new and don't know all the people here yet worth knowing. Novataylor is a member here and one of our favorite Southern Belles. Find her from my profile friends list and check her out. So you are a Southern Belle too huh? Wonderful. I'm going to have to gather you all together and pay you tribute! I just love southern women!

Glad to hear that Olive. YOu'll love nova, but be prepared to show your 'wanton' side - and don't frown, I know every Southern Belle has one! LOL

All I can say I would hate to see what your imagination conjures up if you were ever slipped a hit of acid. My vision of our lovely Nova took a startling turn after her Billy Joel discussion. I now see her in tight booty hugging bell bottomed jeans with a tie dyed spaghetti strapped tank top on with her hair straight and flowing down her back wearing her round gold rimmed rose colored sunglasses as she sits atop a cabinet of speakers giving everyone a peace sign. But I admit, I like your vision of my mama better.

Cyn darling, that's pretty much how I looked that night. Nicely done, my girl. That Spark - wow, on acid???? Hooboy, do you dare even imagine? What she's said here absolutely humbles me. Yeah, your mama, speechless and humbled - who'd have thought?

See, this discussion show how you really can make a silk purse out of a sow's ear! ROFL And I won't tell you what I was smokin' when I wrote this. Suffice to say, dressed down or dressed up a Southern Belle is an outstanding vision of womanhood!
