I still believe that it is a right for everyone to get a good education. But, getting a good quality education is rather a privilege than a right at all. What is important is that you acquired what is necessary to education while you are young so that you could be prepared to face life much better.

it is a right. if your familiar with our law it is the right of every child to be educated. for me nowadays you will not be able to compete in this fast paced world of ours if you're uneducated, you will just be left behind.but also due to the rising prices of everything it seems that education becme a privelege. a privelege to only those people who can afford to pay the high cost of tuition fees in every schools. other might say there are public schools for the can't affords but there are also fees that the teachers/instructors are collecting so indeed education became a privelege.

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Convention on Civil and Political Rights both state that education is a right. Simply by being a human being on this planet, you have a right to an education. Now, that is all those documents say. How much education anyone has a right to is determined by individual countries. But, at least some basic education is envisioned. There should be no illiteracy. Everyone should be able to write a bit and do some basic math.

I think it's a RIGHT that we are privileged to have.

Education should be a right and required for every American citizen.. I do not believe that we should have to educate everyone coming into our country illegally but it should be required for all of our children and adults.. I honestly believe all Americans should be very well educated by the time they graduate and before going on to college..

it should be a right... besides every government would think educating every citizen in thier country as a solid strategy of development. however, in least developing countries like ours, suddenly education is becoming a priviledge. we don't really have free education even in grade school. our public schools still has to collect payments to support its expenses because the LGUs or local government units alone for some reasons can't support them. it worsens with the constant cut in budget for education every year. not to mention the education in high school and moreso in college. it will take either a lot of money to get into a standard university or a lot of talents and an above average mind to get a scholarship. but how can you get such a mind if you can't even have a quality education in grade school and high school? so the case is likely to have bright students in the pool of well-off families. because they can afford anything their students would need to enhance their learning abilities or for the advancement of their knowledge. the university where i graduated from is the premiere university in the country. it is supposed to be a state university, which gives quality education for the poor but look how's becoming now? the government's planning to make it a private university, with tuition fees as much as those of la salle and ateneo where only sons and daughters of wealthy families, with stable businesses, or with government posts can afford. oh yeah, by the way, when i was still studying. there are still people in the provinces who can't read and write. we had a chance to integrate with local farmers and some of them lost their lands because of some fraud agreements, asking for their signatures without having to read their contracts. they're only relying on what the messenger would tell them. they can't even give a decent signature because they don't know how to write. they just use an X mark. free education can only reach those areas with the works of volunteers. but with the current global crisis, only few people are left with the doing. and no one can blame them. their families need to survive as well.
