Debt forgiveness for college graduates?

What do you think of this? I think it would help the economy because many graduates have crushing loan debt that keeps them below the poverty line. There must be some way to relieve this debt so that people can start investing and spending again. Economists feel free to weigh in on this.

Were to start with this one. Do you thing we can just wave a magic wand and boof your debt is gone. I just have to ask have you ever taken an economic class? So let me see here you want me to pay for your college education, I think not. Did you pay for my college education, no you did not. You will take money out of the economy. What do you think a tax does? Stop thinking the world owes you something, because it does not. Let me guess you think the government should give you healthcare, too. What would happen if all of those taxpayer you are welling to rape for your shelfish greed just said no more? Who going to pay for it then.

Sorry I'm not feeling you on this one. Student loan debts are not even forgiven when you declare yourself bankrupt. Graduates should be smart enough to figure out how to pay off their debts. There are lots of people I feel sorry for out there and college students don't even make my top 1 million list. I wouldn't be plugging away that money in the stock market just yet anyways...if you think it couldn't get worse you obviously didn't pay attention in your u.s. history classes. I'm sorry if the degree in basketweaving isn't paying off. No one made you take that major. Despite the failing economy, I think Americans can afford to cut back on their trips to Starbucks and balance their friggin checkbooks. Now's a great time to cut up that pesky credit card. They're bloodsuckers you know. Quit expecting the government to bail you out and take care of business, you're a grownup so welcome to the real world. Need help? Get Dave Ramsey's book "The Total Money Makeover."

Just who is supposed to pay for this debt forgiveness? The colleges... that would raise the cost of tuition for the next students... after all, the buildings cost money for maintenance and utilities... and the teachers don't work for free, unless you want them to donate their time... and the last time I checked slavery is still considered to be socially unacceptable. Or should the taxpayers be expected to once again pony up the money to pay for another deadbeat with their hand out under the pretense that it is the "right thing to do"? I have a better idea... let the individual who decided to go to this college pay for their own education, and stop expecting some socialist plan to take over the responsibility of paying for their eduction... that after all is the American way. So in exactly what way do you think this would help the economy?... It smacks of the forced redistribution of wealth to me, and the money has to come from somewhere. I guess that means I disagree with this notion and think it is a very bad example to set for someone who is about to embark on the brave new works of personal and financial responsibility. Having them pay for their own education would seem to give them some good and valuable experience in that area.
