This is a photo of one of 2 rocks I found in the ground as I was digging up my new garden bed. Does anyone have any idea as to the name of this type of stone? It is very beautiful and a little bigger than a golf ball. I also have one that’s about 3 times smaller and just as pretty. My oldest grandson has a rock tumbler and loves rocks. So I will be giving them to him so he can shine them up even better in his tumbler. Thanks in helping me to identify this rock/stone. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB!!~

You know this rock looks polished, so I can't be too sure. I think it might be a metamorphic rock..Here is a link that may be able to help you in identifying this rock: http://geology.about.com/library/bl/blrockident_tables.htm
