Hot Bath Vs Shower

I don't have a shower in my flat and haven't lived in a place with one since I left home as teenager, I don't miss having a shower in my house though I love to take baths and lie there for along time. I often read as it's the only quiet time I get, consequently lots of my paperback books have water damage on them but it's price worth paying I think.
Sometimes I just lie there and think about things and I hate it when I get disturbed in the bath and have to get out and tramp water everywhere.
True showers are faster better for rinsing your hair and also are supposed to be more environmentally friendly, but nothing beats a nice long bath.
What do you prefer a bath or a shower?

I used to like a bath better, but now I prefer a shower. I think the difference is that when working for somebody else 50 or 60 hours a week or more the bath tub feels like a retreat--a safe place away from everybody's demands. Maybe even a little micro-vacation. But now that my time is pretty much my own, I don't want to waste a bit of active life just to sit in some water. I guess it is all a matter of perspective.

It does take a lot of time but I find it more of a treat than a chore, like you say it's a matter of perspective.

Well we only have a bath too, but even if we had a shower I would use it but would still have to have a bath too. I love lying in the bath and just relaxing and thinking about everything, or nothing in particular!! I also love to read in the bath, I get to concentrate on my book fully.
The only time that I have access to a shower is when I go on holiday and we get a shower in our caravan!!

I soak in it before I wash myself so it doesn't get dirty until I'm about to get out. I always wash my hair first too so it doesn't pick up the soap from washing my body.

i was more fond of baths when we still had a clawfoot tub.
my parents exchanged it for a modern one which is much smaller.
can't sink into it anymore,even at 5 ft 3! :(
now,i'm more fond of showers, but as long as it's warm,i'm happy

I've always wanted a claw foot bath, luckily the one in the flat I have now is nice and deep though it's just an ordinary shaped one. I lived in a flat for years that had a shallow bath and it was horrible not being able to lie down in it properly and be covered by the water.

I take a shower on a daily basis mainly because it's time efficient. When I have the time, I love a nice soak in the bathtub. I like bubbles or sometimes an herbal bouquet with chamomile in it. And I always have a book to read and sometimes even a mug of tea. I get a lot of library books and have to be extra careful when reading one of those in the tub.

I entirely agree that we need to make time for those relaxing moments in life. This may sound silly but I make my bath time like a visit to the spa and feel I get more relaxation out of it that way. Some cool Cucumber slices on the eyes, scented candles and relaxing music -- oh and I turn off the ringer on all my phones so no one can disturb me.

I have a shower more often than a bath because it's quicker and it wakes me up in the morning, but I love my baths! I can spend ages in the bath. It's a great place to think and I often read in the bath so a lot of my books have water damage as well. In fact I have a tendency to fall asleep in the bath which I try to avoid doing because waking up in cold water is not good!

I've never actually fallen asleep in the bath luckily it must be horrible to wake up in cold water though so I'm glad about that.

It is very relaxing lying in hot water makes your muscles relax, and there's all kinds of oils you can add to increase the effect, particularly lavender.

I am not a fan of bathing my self in the tub..because as your sitting there..you end up sitting in your own dirt so to speak.
If i do wanna chill and take a nice hot bath..i take a shower first and get clean.
then i take a nice hot bubble bath.

I lie in it first before I wash myself so the water doesn't get dirty till I'm about to get out. It seems awfully wasteful to have a shower then a bath.

To me a shower when you need to get a bath quick and get going, I love to have a bath tub full of hot water and lay back in it and just relax, I also have this mat that goes in the bottom of the tub and it has holes in it and when you plug it in the air goes through it and blows out like a spa, makes my muscles relax, our tub is broken where you pull up the stopper and waiting on land lord to come and fix, plus we have no pressure coming our of the shower so when you get your hair full of shampoo you have a hard time getting it out, and lord forbid to wash the dog, the water piles up and trying to get the dog shampoo our or off of the dog, when you just about through he decides to sit down and there are the soap all over him again, and OH he just loves to take a bath, NOT! and he has long hair, so when he gets it all fixed the I will take a bath more that a shower, the other night it took me 47 minutes to get enough water in the tub to just sit in it.

I don't mink soaking in a jacuzzi once in a while, I guess lol.
There is one in my house but it is spoiled. We didn't bother fixing it since we don't usually use it.
Normally we don't indulgence in the luxury of soaking there forever and ever. Even showering seems a waste of time lol!

I've only ever been in a jacuzzi once when I was a child so I don't remember much about it, they are supposed to be very therapeutic though I've heard.

I enjoy a bath, but don't relish cleaning my tub afterwards although I am particular about that and trying to find something effective for cleaning it at present. If I'm in a hurry or rush, then it's a shower, but for the most part, a bath.

Dear friend,
It depends how the climate and how much hot I feel also the moods at that time. Mostly I just take a short shower. If time permits may be both. Still hot bath is mostly taken mostly on winters and shower is most common one. I would like to have a shower most often

I generally bath at night so it doesn't matter what the climate is like, but on a hot day a shower is refreshing.

I wonder if it does feel any different or have any real benefit for your skin, putting bicarbonate of soda in the bath helps you detox through the skin apparently.

For me I like Bath more to Shower. The water jet coming out of shower is very annoying as they hit me all over my body.
But having a bath is different. You can relax more than as you have mentioned.

I don't like the sensation of the water hitting me in a shower either, I'd much rather just lie in a bath, it doesn't have to take along time either it's just nice to relax in one.

Nancy, I take a shower just about everyday. But man it sure is nice to soak in a hot tub of water like you suggest and wile away with your thoughts. I think its better for your skin also, easier to exfoliate your legs, but the thing with me is that I always have to rinse well under the shower after my bath. I suppose that would not be too hard to do without a shower if you had a hand held shower head.

It's hard to rinse your hair without a shower but other than that I don't miss it really, I don't feel any less clean after a bath than I do a shower.

I prefer a shower myself as it get you so clean
and I can also wash my hair in the shower. I am
handicapped and its hard to for me to get into
a tub within help which one does not want in
a bath situation.. showers are more hygenically
clean also.
