Look around you, we are surrounded by buildings and many establihments. Go outside your office, what do you feel? Is it hot? Is it dusty? Does it smell awful? Does is look beautiful? Can you see green trees?
Seldom you will see corners with no garbage. Very few cities have trees along the road. Buildings and other establishments are everywhere. As a citizen of a city, what do you think are some ways you can help to keep the city or neighborhood clean?

I live in a small town, and you know, the mantra that the mayor of the town had is " Garbage free town"
Initially people were reluctant to see, that whether it is possible.
But the Mayor of the Town did not give up, he recruited more cleaning
staff. Round the clock they did remove the garbages which people throw. Slowly this brought about awareness in the people's mind. And now, my city is named as " Garbage free town" and in fact, it has been awarded ISO 9002 certification.
And another incident, i must say,in this and pardon me as the post of mine is extending..
Last week, i took my 8 year niece to shopping, and she did bought some candies from the departmental store and ate the same in the spot, itself.
And we are about to leave, and had walked nearly 200 feet to where our bike was parked. And she suddenly shouted and asked me to stand where i am for few minutes, and she returned to the departmental store and came back after a while, I asked her, what did you do there," She replied, I just went inside and put the wrappers of the candies in the dust bin, which is inside the departmental store.
And i asked her, why is it, you go inside and drop the wrapper in the dust bin, and why can't you drop it on the road side, to which she responded, i don't want to pollute this garbage free city.

That is a very nice true to life story. I wish all children would do what this little girl has done. She respected the environment as well as followed the rules of the city and proved to herself that since she is part of the garbage free town she will act as a responsible citizen. Congratulations for having her and for having a "garbage free town". Thank you for responding. Take care =)

I think there must be more waste bins and the government must provide free dustbins in every house. Apart this, there must be sensitization about the importance of the environment. People must understand that cleanliness is next to Godliness. Scavenging unit must be more regular on the roads.

Hi! You have very good suggestions. Let the waste bin be visible so whenever people needed to throw something, it will be easy. People usually just throw it in the streets because they can't see even one waste bin around and its too dirty to keep or be holding it until they see a waste bin. I hope the government will really provide MORE.
Scavenging unit must really have a regular patrol. During weekends, people usually have a lot of party so there will be more wastes. I hope they'll be able to take it soon as possible.
Thank you for responding. Take care =)

ever notice that these street corners that you mention are only ever cleaned by people with those long pointy poles that impale the garbage and pick it up and put it in a bag? I vote that each day someone with one of those poles and bags walks the block they live on (not the same person everday, a different person each day) and pick up any trash they can find. not only would this help keep the area looking good but you would also get some good exersise doing it. i havent started yet but i know im going to start carrying a plastic bag and pick up rubbish that shows up in my neighborhood to keep it looking nice. it already looks nice why ruin it. i walk to where i need to be anyway, so i figure why not use the time to make the area look nice at the same time. there are plenty of garbage cans around the public areas i can throw the bag into when its full. and i bet that i would have a full bag every time.

Hi Palmerhusky,
This is a very nice suggestion. Yes, you're right, why not other people do it too. It is really always those with pointed poles. We don't need pointed poles if we only throw our trash properly in the trashcan. One person indeed can make a difference. To be able to lead a flock, a leader should set an example. Thank you for responding. Take care =)
