Does anyone what Barney does as a job.

Everytime someone asks him about his job,he laughs and says "ohh please!" What is his real job?.I never actually figured it out.I know he works in a law firm but what does he specifically do.That question has been puzzling me ever since I started watching the show.If you really want to get the best out of the show,start from season one but you can easily understand from even season 2 as I have.It is all based on ted finding his soulmate as he tells his story to his future kids of how he met their mother.
I really love this show but what barney does as a job has been bugging me for a long time so please help me here.I appreciate your further responses.So if you know anything about barney's job in the series please feel free to reply.

i think we will never now what barney job really is...
In the start of season 4, barney works for a bank. His old firm buy the bank ;)

oh my I thought you were talking about the irritating blue dinosaur which all the kids think is great and mostparents'
detest but I realize that this is the wrong program. so I dont
know what your Barney does for a living. the dinosaur barney seems to me to be there to drive parents bananas. I would like
to run over his blue purple body with a ten ton truck.

Oh, this question was making me laugh as I thought you were talking about Barney the big purple dinosaur. I was just imagining him working in a law firm, and as I've never watched this programme it completely changed my perception of what it must be about, (I was even beginning to think that maybe I'd misjudged it, and might let my daughter watch it after all! 
- no, only kidding, that's not going to happen!)
Then I saw the picture on the RHS saying 'how I met your mother' and I realised that they must have a character called Barny. As I don't know this programme, I'm afraid I can't actually help you at all with your question, but thanks for making me laugh, even though it wasn't intentional!
