A man acquired a 159-year-old safe found in an old building along Astoria's historic Cannery Row district. And he started a contest asking safe-crackers and locksmiths to come and try to get the safe open. One tried for 14 hours and failed. After 30 attempts, someone finally managed to get it open. Now, they aren't telling what is inside the safe until an announcement is made in June. Apparently it was an old coast guard ship safe. Anything could be inside! I can't believe we have to wait to find out! Wonder what could have been inside? http://www.katu.com/news/19210619.html

And now it is July, and they would have revealed what they had in the safe.. May some high priced valuables.. that would be inside.. and surely it must be only rewarding if they have some useful things, otherwise 30 hard attempts to break open.. is a utter waste.

...reminds me of Heraldo Rivera's highly looked forward show of opening a safe.. and then it was empty! Oops! Poor Heraldo.. felt bad for him..

It will be interesting to find out what was inside. It must be something worth something.

It sounds like it was a really good safe. I am curious about it now. I hope you post when they tell about it.

Hi estherlou! Hmmm, very mysterious and suspenseful! haha..I think the contents are just a bunch of documents and letters. I just think that if I am the previous owner of that safe, I wouldn't leave anything precious behind in that safe unless if there was a war that time or a fire that may have killed me and all of my family. But who knows, maybe I am mistaken and there are lots of gold bars inside. haha.. Take Care and God Bless! Happy Mylotting!
