Oh my gawd it was awful. But yet exciting as heck too. There were maybe 1,500 kids present or more. 3 buses crashed into each other. One lost a wheel, one lost it's hood and most the front end as well. I loved seeing it occur right before my eyes. There were no injuries to anyone involved in this crash. The kids all cheered wildly and stomping their feet on the steel bleacher floor making Thunder sounds. Oh what a night of races. That's right this was the fijnal race of the night Saturday where I took my grandsons. And they always close the Eve of Destruction with the school bus races as it is a kids favorite. The drivers intentionally ram into each other for the excitement. They purchses the buses for just a few hundred dollars and then get them race ready. Cheap cost for the drivers and great fun for all the spectators.

Oh they are fun. There have been many times they rolled over and that brings a huge roar from the crowd. They race with the stop signs out and red lights blinking as well.

Oh my goodness, I almost flipped when I started reading this! I continued reading and saw you went to the races. Very clever way of starting your discussion. I bet your grandsons had a blast!

I do the ctacy titles trying to draw attention to my discussions and get more responses is why. But it worked so far. This part of the races is the most fun. I love seeing the kids faces light up as the buses start circling the track faster and faster.

Thought for a min. there you were talking about the bus crashes on the street. Sometimes, your unique titles are deceiving and worrysome till the whole discussion is read. lol

That does sound exciting and I am sure the grown ups were cheering and stomping just as loudly as the kids. That was a whole lot of kids there, must be a really big race track. I have never seen the buses have a destruction but would like to one day.

It's almost a half mile track. It is a four eights mile track. There were about 7,000 people there I'd guess. 6 to 7 thousand.

We celebrate only because they made it out unharmed. If there had been harm, it would have been awful for you to think about watching it. I know what you mean though, that since there was no harm, it was really something to see LIVE, UPCLOSE AND PERSONAL.

These people are goo and like a huge NASCAR facility there are medical crews right on track. I have yet to see anyone seriously hurt. There have been some hurt but nothing a cast or stitches doesn't mend.

How exciting and fun for all! I love derbies--- I have only been to one bus derby-- they are a riot.. My sig other participated in demolition derbies for about 5 years--- but only with cars. What a rush it was watching them--- but I hated it when he was in the heat- I hated to watch him :(
I bet the kids loved this-
Did they paint the buses all different colors- with sponsors and names on them? Or leave them the normal color.
I bet your grandkids had a ball!

I love to see things like that too. It is very exciting as long as no one gets hurt. I love going to demolition derbies. I have never seen one with busses though. I bet that would be alot of fun to see. I bet they cannot gather much speed though unless they have a fairly big track to ram each other on LOL.

It's funny actually because you're usd to the speed then the huge slow bulky busses come out racing. Kids love it.
