Hailed as an inspiring and uplifting movie that has a lot to offer in terms of history. Do you think this type of movie is any use to society,if so why? If not,why do you think not? Personally I think it was a great movie with a vibrant message, charm and great historical value

I agree with you. It would be nice to see more positive, inspiring film like this. Our youth, especially, need more exposure to film like this.
The Great Debaters gave us a peek at the past so we do not forget our history but it also gives us a glimpse of what is possible today with determination and hard work.
My father knew Professor Tolson (Denzel's character). He admired him and spoke highly of him. Based on my father's stories, Denzel's portrayal of Professor Tolson's character was fairly accurate; although Professor Tolson was a little more colorful among his friends. He had a way with words and a phenomenal sense of humor.
