A woman Gaura Devi, who belongs to the reni village in the himalayas. One day a small girl seeing some men withn saws and axes, rushed to tell Gaura Devi the head of the village mahila mangal dal.She quickly gathered a group of women and little girls. These women then blocked the trees that had been marked for felling.Though they were met with abuses and threats they refused to move out of the way of the wood cutters. After three days the woodcutters finally left and the Garhwal forests were saved from being cut down.
Do you also agree that forestry is not just about trees but it is also about people?

Ofcourse. Can you imagine the lives of many people without trees around? Maybe some of us are not nature lover like me but we benefit a lot from trees. Trees hold the ground from erosion and gives us shade aside from bearing fruits and homes to a lot of animals that balances the food chain. Trees not just plants filters pollution. It cools the environment. The logs that people use to build homes comes from trees. Paper comes from trees. If people exploit these, they don't replace trees when they cut it down then someday trees will only be legends and the earth might be as hell.
