Definetly not. This is one of the source of information. We can learn so many thing by watching T.V. But regarding the children, depending on their age, you must set up rules of what's and what's not to watch. Your guidance is needed.

It just depends on what you watch! But sadly, it seems like everything is slowly being perverted with profanity and horrible stories, etc. I don't understand why everything has to be so worldly - like everyone wants to watch people getting divorced, relationships destroyed, court TV, etc. It's just sad. Actually I do understand since we are living in the last days, but seriously, I would love to watch a few decent shows now and then. I just rented the Great Debaters. Can't wait to watch it :-)

Thanks for your comment. I agree with you too. They should have more cartoon and shows that sharing loves, informative to build one up in a decent way. I dislike the horror movies and terrorist show a lot as it doesn't help our world to be better, rather it influence / give ideas to those criminals/terrorist on how to attack us!

TV can be very informative. I was lucky enough to be born into a family that understand this. Everybody in my family has allowed me to understand right from wrong at an early age. And when I saw right and wrong I mean the things that are acceptable and that which is not. For example, recreating a harmless science experiment that I saw on TV in my kitchen, was okay. Recreating a knife scene from a TV show is not something I should be doing. I think if you feed kids that knowledge about right and wrong, I don't think you will have as many, if any, problems at all.

TV is as bad as the programming on it. Lumping all television programs into one category is a pretty bad generalization. That's like saying that all books are the same. There are programs that are great for children to watch like public television or the Discovery channel. Parents that complain that television is bad for their children probably let their children watch inappropriate programs on TV.

It really depend on what you think. I think TV is good for us but bad for our eyes, what I mean is that TV is a good public views tool, yet its side effect is that our eyes will get harm. In final consideration, TV has both good and bad to us. It's hard to make a decision on whether TV is good or bad to us.

Thanks ml2blog for your comment. I agree with you that it hurts our eyes too. Especially if we watch it in less than 3 meters from our eye sight. That's what I usually did when I was a kid. And now I have to bear the inconveniences to wear spectacles daily!

Honestly, I feel like tv is all in how you interpret it. Television is a form of entertainment. And like any type of entertainment it can go from being perfectly fine to indulge in or completely harmful to the person you are. I believe that children should be able to watch the educational shows and cartoons on television though. But tv time should definitely be limited. It only becomes an issue if your child is hypnotized by the tv and can't do anything else except watch tv.

Everything will have its advantages and disadvantages. I think TV has more advantages than its bad ones. It's good for entertainment and knowledge. You will learn from it. Of course if you are addicted into it, it's not good. Also the bad violent programs are not good for audiences.

Like any othe thing, Tv also has both its advantages and disadvantages. Tv keeps us up to date with the latest news and the world. When watching news, students have the opportunity of enhancing their general knowledge which helps them both in their studies and their life. But most parents dont like their children watching TV because most children are addicted to the cartoons coming on the Tv and they just ignore their studies and watch these cartoons. In a sense its good for them as they forget about their stress but they must watch tv only during their leisure time and they must not negelct their studies.

Although some people tend to blame tv for the bad behaviour that kids have I don't agree with that. TV can also be very informative and educational. However if you let kids watch only violent things then there may be something to it. Have them watch a variety of things and limit the violence and stuff like that and I'm sure it won't be too bad.

Yup. I agree with you. Parents should explain with better reason than telling them tv is bad! They should allow them to watch informational channels to gain knowledge and expose to new things. It's their responsibility to help the kids to watch tv at the right timing and on right channel!
Thanks for your comment.

there is a saying that 'too much of a good thing is bad'.That holds good for anything.one cannot say whether the tv is good or bad for them...depends on what you watch on it for how long...and kids are supposed to watch tv in their childhood...one of the perks of being a child.
