Should we be trying to prevent different species from becoming extinct? I saw a nature show on this topic the other day, and got to thinking. Should we be doing this? doesn't mother nature have a plan? Are we disrupting something natural. Assuming of course the extinction is a natural process and not caused by humans. What do you think about this? Should we let nature take its course, or preserve the species that are dwindling? If you think we should save them....why so?

I have had people tell me that they don't understand why Polar Bears were ever put on the endangered species list because they are such a nuisance. But I think the reason they were put on there was to prevent people from shooting them, not because they were dying out naturally. But then again, isn't hunting a part of nature. Especially, if you are eating the food of the animal you are hunting.

yeah, kidd, you're right-hunting is a part of nature! Its even encouraged here in NH as a way to keep the animal population down. people love their deer and moose meat! Yuck! And what about keeping animals in zoos to preserve their species? Wouldn't raising animals in captivity eventually change their true disposition? I love animals and would hate to hear of any being totally gone, but I really don't understand the reasoning behind stopping the natural process of extinction.
