Okay this is the summer snow I get each mid May till mid June. I believe it comes from a Dogwood tree but not positive. If anyone knows please let me know for sure. But when the tree seeds and drops it's little curved buds or whatever they're calledf it also drops snow like fuzz. All over the place. It is fairly windy here today and it still sticks to the driveway as shown in the attatched photo. I'll add photos of it on the lawn and flower beds later. It's very annoying as it comes inside the house when we open the door so it is alos drifting around inside. The edge of the lawn gets to look like it has a coating of snow on it. So do you know if this stud=ff is from a Dogwood tree? Or do you know for sure what type of tree sends the snow to me on ZMay 31st?

Mmm..think you uploaded a wrong photo as I don't see any of the tree "snow" Dogwood blossoms are kind of larger though...light "fluffy" blossoms usually come from pear or apple type trees even cherry blossoms--also dogwood blossoms usually have a slight tinge of pink to them

These damn myLot glitches affecting me with the photos. I did a few discussions with photos and things are really messed up even though the right photos uploaded to the right discussions. The photo has been added to response number 2 I think. So now tell me if this is Dogwood? There's no pink but some are very light fuzz thingies.

I think it is cottonwood, at least where I live that is what produces this fluff. It is whiter, and even lighter than dandelion fluff. I did not see the cottonwood trees when I was in Minnesota, but I was not looking for them. It would make sense though because they grow around waterways and lakes very abundantly. A lot of people with allergies have trouble when they are fluffing.

Mmmm...nope really can't tell what the heck that is...doesn't look like anything from any of the kinds of trees I was thinking of....We do have a number of pear, apple, cherry, dogwood, crab apple even magnolia trees around my area but never seen any of them produce that kind of "snow"

Now Bob if they are sticking to your stubble that bad, do not take your Dad outside, with you only shaving him once a month now, we will have Santa Clause in May :)

I have been telling you for months, to becareful with what you wish for, you just might get it,
At least with this snow its not cold and you don't have to shovel it. I have always heard it was from the dogwood tress. I am not positive with that though.

Yeup..snowing in May and June. Those are cottonwoods that give us that nice fuzzy layer of snow. Folks round here don't open their pools or uncover their a/c units till the snow is over and rained into the ground for they really wreck havoc with the filters.

Have a great day.

I'm not sure what it is, or if what I have here is the same thing, but we've had a bit of wind the last few days too. I was sitting here at my office where I have the blinds pulled up all the time and yesterday a gust came through and I had to do a double-take because it really did look like it was snowing out there!
Whatever these trees are, they are tall and skinny and tower over the rest of the trees in this little patch of woods nearby.

I jus had another huge storm and scare. Tornado sirens went off due to a funnel sighting not too far away. Luckily no touchdown and just some heavy rain, high winds, and hail.

hi grandpa bob... i never heard about this and i don't really know anything about this as i am not a plant person... i never experience something like this as well... so may be somebody else here can help you whether the snow comes from the dogwood tree (what kind of tree is it anyway??) or not... by the way, i can't see any snow in your picture... just a rearranged plant garden... take care and have a nice day...

Here in Kansas it is Cottonwood that snows on us this time of year. I am not familiar with dogwood, but I will probably go do a search about it and get back to you. Last weekend I was calling the "snow" cottonwood, though.

I don't know what kind of trees these are in the yard outside but I know what you mean by snow, my husband called me to look the other day he said snow and when I first looked out all I could see was this white stuff falling and I thought to my self now it 80 degrees out side, these trees have these big white flowers on them, andthey must look pretty if the wind would leave the flowers on the tree, but apparently the wind which was kicking it pretty hard was blowing these petels off the tree and the patio looked like it was covered in snow. When I went out to get in my truck, the windshield was covered and the hood of my truck, only thing with the rain we had now i have to take it to the car wash to get them off the hood as they stuck on there, then who ever came in carried it in on their feet from the patio, so yes we had snow on May 31 too.

Grandpa Bob it sounds more like a cottonwood like we
had back on the farm in S.D. the tree seeds these little
curved buds that break open into that fuzz that covers
everything and makes me sneeze. my eyes water and my
throat get dry and it is utter misery and our farm had
a ton of them.lol. oh it had to be cottonwood, and the worst'thing about cottonwoods are you take a branch'
and use it as a stake to tie a plant to and within months
'you have another cotton wood tree.and who needs them.the
leaves are pretty but the cotton is awful, just awful.

I always thought dogwood snow was more like flower petals, much like any fruit tree blossoms that fall. I'm not sure how good the pictures are, but it does look like fluff - like cotton or cotton fibers. So maybe the folks who said it was cottonwood were right. Whatever it is, I'm sure it's a pain to have all of that raining down on you.
