Do you think bars/pubs should have breathalyzers?

I realize that the reason they would have them is to not get tickets driving home but I think no matter what the reason if it saves a life it's worth it!
"According to the 'New York Daily News', bars all across
the city are installing breathalyzer vending machines
telling people whether they've had too much to drink.
Apparently, if you're drunk the machine warns you not
to drive, and if you're really drunk, it warns you not to
call your ex-girlfriend." unknown

I can't see that that will help stop any drunk driving. Ok, so you're in a bar drinking with your buddies, hey let's see how drunk we are.....hahaha. Some vending machine in a bar is not going to keep drunks from driving, it will only tell them they shouldn't, but if they believe that they are fine to drive, they will. The only thing that will stop it is if we get stiffer penalities handed down and the main part, enforced by the judges. If they are going to try to make the vending machine theory work, are they going to deputize the bartenders too? Give them the power of arrest? I don't think so, if they wanted to be a cop, they wouldn't be tending bar.

Haha! Wow! I am trying to imagine someone who is too drunk facing that machine and the machine telling him/her not to drive. My imagination makes me laugh.
But, friend, this is one good thing too. At least, there are reminders. It would be nice if the reminder will sound sarcastic and humorous like.. "If you want to be seen by you friends alive tomorrow, don't drive." LOL.

wow that is interesting, yes I think that it is a good idea but I think the drunkest of people who need it the most won't even use the machine

You know Mom I think it is a good idea but the people that are the ones we need to worry about wouldn't even use the breathalysers never mind pay attention to what it says! Luckily here very few people drive to the pubs here but drinking at home and then driving is a bigger problem! xxx

Do you really believe that somebody who is inebriated will be interested in putting some money in a vending machine to find out if they drank too much? I don't think so.
I doubt they'd even be able to get the change in it, let alone care what it said. Maybe some younger people will use it after each drink to see how many it will take to make the thing go off. It won't save a life. It's just plain silly.
