I never even knew that this was possible until a friend told me last year. I just got finished cleaning a silver heart and chain with it. It works wonderful. Only one problem, how in the world do you get all of the goopy toothpaste out of the crevices of the jewelry. So far I have used a toothpick and my fingernail, but I am getting quite frustrated. What would you suggest? By the way, which one do you prefer, silver or gold? I prefer silver because gold brings out the yellow in my teeth, LOL.

use baking powder. put your jewelry on top of aluminum foil, cover it with baking powder, wait a few minutes and pour boiling water over it, comes out looking new.

Oh, that is a new one. I must try that sometime. One of the bad things about toothpaste is that it is hard to clean off of the jewelry, LOL.

I've been using toothpaste to clean my silver jewelry for years. It's cheaper and I believe safer than the chemical cleaners that are on the market. I like both silver and gold. I mostly own silver though. I always use an old toothbrush with it. I also have used the denture tablets used for false teeth, They work well too. The bubbling action really gets the dirt moving.

Hi there Rozie! Yes, my brother-in-law taught me that and since then, when I don't have silver cleaning solution available, I just use warm water and toothpaste for cleaning my silver jewelries. It works.

An idea came to me while reading your post. I can use an old toothbrush to get the paste out.
