Cooked Lunch Late Today

So maybe lots of people do this but i had to go run some errand s this morning and got my dad to wait for me at a mall so I could get a ride home with him. On our way home I asked him what he wanted for lunch. He said, "Well you did mention fried rice yesterday...but I think you said you need some ingredients?" Now this is true and time was only about 10:45AM. When we got home it was already 11:20AM. By the time I unpacked the groceries and fed the puppies, changed my clothes and probably wasted time here and there is was 11:55AM! Then I put on the news at noon and started preparing to get cooking! Well...I decided I am going to make Fried Rice, Potato Salad, Oven Fried Chicken and BBQ Chicken Filled Wantons. Sounds like a big menu considering it was already lunch time! But I eat around 1PM-1:30PM usually and my dad wasn't hurry to have lunch cause he had breakfast late. So...how long do you think it must have taken me to make all these dishes from scratch?! It took me about 1 hour 10 minutes from start to finish. The Wanton filling for done first, the potato salad was next, the rice got finished third and the chicken finished "frying" as soon as the rice was finished. So I made a full meal in a little over an hour! I have done this before to be honest but not with this menu. But it surprises me when people say they don't like to cook because it takes too long. Of course I had loads of dishes to do after, that is the part I hate about cooking/baking. So views? Do you like to cook? Do you think you can pull off a menu like that in a little over an hour? I hope you all had a delicious and nice lunch today!

I normally don't cook lunch as we will have sandwhiches or something simple like that. I really don't like to cook and have no idea on how to cook anything from scratch. I would probably give my husband a heart attack if I ever did as he has gotten use to meals that come out of a box.

Hehe, you made me giggle angel! The boxed stuff ain't bad though. When I make stuff from a box I usually add a little stuff here and there to enhance it. Sandwiches for lunch are a nice lunch too. There are many times which I made last minute sandwiches for lunch. Very good stuff

I luv to cook ! But don't like to rush it! If your organized, you know your kitchen and where every thing is I could run clode to that, but I chop lots of stuff to add to my potatoe salad including a boiled egg or two, add getting it all to cool down and let the flavor meld together, I just can't see me doing it that quick, but congrts. to ya for pulling it off!!!! tdemex

Hey tdemex, With everything organized it is easy! I add boiled egg to my potato salad too but I stuck my potato salad in the freezer so it'd chill faster and it doesn't seem to affect the flavour. I know cole slaw does taste much better when left to meld overnight, yum yum! Thanks!
