It seems the Obamas have glamorised the fist bump thing. Since that night Obama clinched the nomination and he and his wife had that little fist bump thing on stage, all the news channels started running with the story. All trying to give some form of meaning or interpretation to the whole thing. Today on Wolf Blitzer on CNN, there were 2 senators who did the fist bump thing after their interview.
It seems people are just reading all sort of meanings into why the Obamas did the fist bump on stage. I agree with what one woman said on TV the other day; instead of the news channels just speculating, why don't they just ask them. I think that makes sense; don't you?

I think the news media will read into anything just so they can have news. Yeah, I agree with you they should ask them instead of speculating what it means. Though I seem to think it's means nothing more than YES!!!

In the Black society, the fist stands for victory. If you are a track and field fan you will remember that black American who did it after placing first in the race and collecting his gold medal on the podium. The media needs to know more about the black society and how they think. We are proud to be black and yes we are victorious. That is the meaning of the fist.

Well this is one explanation to the fist bump thing although this is the first time I am hearing this one. I heard that it was cotton farmers who started it. I also heard it was baseball players who started it because sometimes players go to the bathroom and don't wash their hands sometimes, so to avoid spreading germs and stuff other players just do the fist bump rather than shake hands, lol. I guess it all makes sense.

Oh, but speculating is so much more fun. You can draw out the attention and keep people coming back for more. Far be it for anyone to do something practical, that makes sense.
