That all depends on why exactly you are not on good terms with him. Has he done anything really bad, unforgivable on you? If he has, take it from there and perhaps only do the bare minimum. But if you 2 don't get on or if he has done something that is forgivable, I would continue to stay in contact. I think it is always better to give someone the benefit of the doubt in family relationships and to err on the side of caution when thinking of cutting off ties as you seem to be doing.

Maybe you two can meet half way. You two need to seat down and talk about everything that is going wrong between you. I have never had any ontact wih my father and I hate that. Please try to work things out.

You should have a serious talk with your father and tell him how you feel. My father and I didnt get alog very well either and I had a talk with him and after that things were great with us. All you can do is try and see what happens.
